Once there was an intelligent lady who was making SOLE REBELES-you could find it exported, not sure if she is still thriving or they buried her All fan faring is about palace, parks, corridor and green (I don't know what green stuff they are growing there, at least, if it cannot be food for the starving ) etc... We don't know when the kind of the things the country exports, imports, the ratio of import to export volume will change. The products the country exports are not mind products (when you have skilled force, you tend to export machineries, technologies...) they all are farm and sheer labor and raw products-you export them raw, they come back processed and expensive. What happened to the big oil factory build in Amhara region? Killed? It was hopped to reduce amount of imported oil while the country exports oil seeds. The export import things have not changed in century, but they kill the people with propaganda as if they produced something from the scratch.

You will be amazed what to find if you ask ChatGPT where all this money spent on the vanity (projects that won't pay back the cost invested) projects comes from. It is all borrowing, begging or pressuring the poor citizens and already pressured public to foot the bill.

I can answer this question. These are main reasons why wheat, rice, sugar... are still needing to be imported in Ethiopia. Sorry to disappoint but the problems have very little to do with PP.

1. Lack of skilled labor: for agro products to be produced in sufficient quantity to satisfy national demand, skilled labor is needed. Ethiopia produces most of its wheat, onion by peasant small holder workforce who use the same inputs and methods their ancestors used 1000 years ago plus the fertilizer they get from the local gov't. So in a good year, peasants produce enough to satisfy their family and local community's demand, but not beyond. For the national demand for wheat, sugar to be satisfied, private companies have to produce them as they are the only ones who can be sustainably productive. The barriers for private compnaies are the degenerate tribal land system where, a land granted by central gov't for a private company's investment is routinely invaded by local vigilantes who then refuse to leave as they are in cahoots with local gov't officials who give them cover, this happens a lot in benishangul, oromia and gambella, where the most potential exists for mechanised agro. Degenerate structure breeds degenerate people--->deficit in skilled labor.

2. Dumb narrrow incentive structure: local gov't officials are the most important piece of the jigsaw if ethiopia is to be self sufficient in basic agro products. Local court systems and local police forces are the first port of call for agro investors when the inevitable happens and the local tribal hordes periodically disrupt, loot, or burn businesses. But the alliance of these local judges or police forces is with the vigilantes not with the outside investor since their promotion is not dependent on who attracted the most investment like in China but rather on who has been the most loyal to local tribal hordes and has the most following among them a la the career of take Uma. Exactly. TPLF is selling gold in black market. The same was being reported when Takele Uma was mines whatever minster. Coffee of large amount gets lost. Answer this Ethiopia used to at least produce SUGAR from shenkora. What happened? Technically, sugar is poison for consumption, if not produced unless for other reasons such as ethanol production that is ok. Citizens must avoid sodas, sugar etc.

Most of the amhara peasants displaced from Wollega recently are the result of derg regime colectivization drive when they moved them from wollo to fertile empty wollega lands. But the peasants don't have the drive nor the skill to satisfy local demand let alone national. The only way to meet national demand for 100 million people is to privatize the land and have private investors move in , employ locals, then investors sell the produce to satisfy national demand. For that to happen, the degenerate tribal land system needs to be history. Local pgov't and police need to be incentivized to brong in investment rather than ethnic loyality.
