Sometimes, I ask myself: Why do the elite Tigrayans stir problems here and there? The fathers' of the Eritrean nationalism movement was started by two Tigrayans who hated the Orthodox Christian Ethiopian Church and its king Haile Selassie.
One was a Lutheran Protestant teacher and journalist Ato Woldeab Woldemariam and the other was a Jeberti Muslim of Tigray and Wello origin Abdelkadir Kabire who was a clerk in the Italian Colonial admistration. These two people hated everything about Ethiopia. They hated the Tewahado Church and they even hated the Christian Amhara king Haile Selassie more.
Let me tell you the Hamasien people, as Eritreans were then called, were a very decent people who never keep any grudges, a kind of on your face humble people.
Do you know that when the Ethiopian flag was banned in Ethiopia during the five years of the Italian occupation, it was legally flying in all Tewahado Orthodox churches in Eritrea, including in St. Mary of Zion Orthodox Tewahado Church in downtown Asmara. The Italians did try to ban the Ethiopian flag but the Eritrean Tewahado clerks and monks went on strike, saying this Habesha flag is the symbol of our church, equal to the Vatican's flag. The Italians relented and accepted it but not in occupied Ethiopia.

ወዘተ ቢሎም ኣኽሱም ንህዝቢ ትግርኛ ጥራሕ ከምዚምልከት ዚሓስቡ “ውሩይ ጋዜጠይና” ኢዮም ነቢሮም። ብዛዕባ ብምምህርና ብዙሕ ዘገልገሉሉ ህዝቢ ኩናማን ባዛን’ ከ ምስ ንጉስ ባዜንን ኣኽሱምን ርኽብ የብሎምን ዲዮም ኪብሉ ደሊዮም ወላስ ንህዝቢ ትግረን ካልኦትን ስልጣነ ኣዅሱም ኣይምልከቶምን ዲዮም ኪብሉ ደሊዮም ዝፈለጥና የብልናን። ብዝኹነ ኩላ ምስረኣዩ “ብላን ኤ” ማለት “ትግራይ ትግርኚ”፡ ግብራዊ ከምዘይትከውን ምስ ተረድኣቶም፡ ኣንሳሒቦም ምስ እኒ ራእሲ ተሰማ ኣስበሮም ኰይኖም “ብላን ቢ” ማለት “ኤርትራ ንኤርትራዉያን” መስሪቶም። ሓቅነቱ ብዙሕ ዘየረጋገጽናዮ “7 ሳእ” ፈተነ ቅትለት ብኣንድነታዉያን ተገቢሩሎም ነቢሩ ኪበሃል ንሰምዕ። ከምዚፍለጥ ቀንጸልቲ ማሕበር ኣንድነት፡ ብኮሎነል ነጋ ዚምእከሉ፡ መብዛሕትኦም ዶብ ሰጊሮም ናብ ኤርትራ ይኣትዉ ስለዝነበሩ፡ ንኣይተ ወልደኣብ ምቕታል ዛይዀነ ምስንባድ ኢዩ ነቢሩ ተልእኾኦም ክንብል ንኽእል። “ስጋ እንተወደቐት” ኢዩ ቦተሊክኡ! ድሒሮም ብፈቓድ ሃይለስላሴን ብምኽሪ ቢትወደድ ኣስፈሓን ብዕሊን ብሰላማዊ መንገዲን ብነፋሪት ካብ ሃገር ኪወጽኡ መሰሎም ዝተኸበረሎም ዜጋ ነቢሮም፡ ኣብ ካይሮ ድማ ጎስጓሳት ምእንቲ ናጽነት ይገብሩ ነቢሮም። ክሳብ ናጽነት ጸኒሖም ብድሕሪ ናጽነት ኣብ ኤርትራ ዓሪፎም። ኣብ ኤርትራ ኣብ ዝነበሩ ናይ ድሕሪ ናጽነት መዋእሎም፡ “ክንደይ ካብ ገዳይም ተጋደልትና ይበጽሕዎም ነቢሮም፧” እንተበልና ቍጽሩ ኣመና ዉሑድ ከምዝነበረ ዚገልጹ ተንተንቲ ቦለቲካ ዞባና ኣይሰኣኑን።

ኣብደልቃድ መሓመድ ሳልሕ ከቢረውን እንተዀኑ ድሕሪ ምንዋጽ ማሕበር ፍቕሪ ሃገር ካብ ፈለማ ኣባል ራቢጣ እስላሚያ ኢዮም ነቢሮም “ብላን ኤ” ፡ ንሳ ኣብ ኤርትራ ቦታ ከምዘይብላ ምስፈለጡ፡ ናብ ኤርትራ ንኤርትራዉያን “ብላን ቢ”ተጸንቢሮም ዲዮም ኣይተጸንበሩን ተኰሊፎም ከይኾኑ ምምርማር ከድሊ ኢዩ። ነጋ ሃይለስላሴ ብዘዋፈሮም ሓሱሳት ናይ ማሕበር አንድነት ድማ ዝተቐንጸሉን ምእንቲ ኤርትራ መስዋእቲ ዝዀኑን ምሁርን ምኩርን ዲብሎማትን ዚነበሩ ኣቦ ኢዮም። ቋንቋታት ዓረብ ትግርኛ ትግረ ዓፋርን ጥልያንን ይመልኹ ከምዝነበሩ ይንገረሎም ኢዩ።

እንተ ክልቲኦም ኣይተ ወልደኣብ ኮነ ሸኽ ኣብደልቃድር ከቢረ ዚነበርዋ 12 ዝኣባላታ ማሕበር ፍቕሪ ሃገር ፡ ፋልማይ ብረዚደንታ ፊተዉራሪ ገብረመስቀል ወልዱ ኢዮም ነቢሮም። ብኤርትራዉነቶም ዚዀርኡ፡ እንተዀነ ምስ ኢጦብያ ብውዕሊ ንሕበር። ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ብሓባር ነጥፍእ ዝዕላምኡ መትከል ዝወነኑ ነቢሮም ንሰምዕ፡ “ብላን ኤ” እቶም ኣብ ከረን ሱዳንን ሮማን ትምህርቲ ሕጊ ዝቐሰሙ ምሁር ኣቦና ፊተዉራሪ ገብረመስቀል ወልዱ። መትከሎም ንጹርን ጽኑዕን፡ ንድሌት ኢጦብያዉያን ተማእዛዚ ስለዘይነበሩ ድማ ኣብ ማሕበር ፍቕሪ ሃገር ብኢጦብያ ብዝተወደቡ ዜጋታት ‘መፈንቅለመንግስት’ ተገቢሩሎም ብሸርሒ ኣንድነታዉያን፡ ብደጃዝማች ተድላ ባይሩ ዝተተክኡ ኣቦ ኢዮም ነቢሮም ንሰምዕ።

እንተ ራእሲ ወልደሚካኤል ኮኑ ደጊያት ባህታ፡ “ዕጽዋይ ክባይ” ብዝተፈላለዩ ሓይልታት ይግበሮም ስለዝነበረ፡ ሓይሎም ክሳብ ዚድልቡ ናብቲ መስኮትን መተንፈሲን ዝነበሮ ማእዝን ዘንቢሎም ነቢሮም እንተተባህለ ኢና ክንኣምን እምበር፤ መጋበርያ ናይ ተስፋሕፋሕቲ ሓይልታት ኣይነበሩን። ምስክሮም ድማ ግብሮም ኢዩ፡ ንጻዕዳ ይኹን ንጸሊም ባዕዳዊ “እምቢ” ዝበሉ ንኤርትራዉነት እውን መሰረት ዘንበሩ መሰረት ዘምጽዓድን መሰረት ሃገርን ኢዮም ነቢሮም። ካልእ ዚመጸ እንኮላይ ጀብሃ ኮነ ሻዕብያ፡ ኣብቲ መሰረት ነደቁ እምበር፡ መሰረት ናጽነት መሰረት ኤርትራዊ ሃገራዉነት ኣንቢሮም ኢዮም ምባል፡ ቦተሊካዊ ምንዝርና ንብሎ፡ ንሕና ኤርትራዉያን ደያኑ ማእከልን መስመርን በቲ ልሙድን ልሉይን ኤርትራዊ ጭዉነት ሓበንን ፍናንን።
