Why is blackness associated with Satan? Is it a religious belief?

Associated with the night / dark
At night you are scared to go out and walk out because you cannot see whats around you
So that is why the dark creates blindness to danger
The dark represents the fear of the unknown
While the light is needed for everything to be known
