Is previous USA foreign policy on Ethiopia to stay?

Post by Odie » 10 Apr 2025, 11:38

Who feeds the Ethiopian Ethnic strife politics? Dems or repubs(doubt), Europeans, UAE or just self-feeding as insatiable fire?

We are wondering because there appears to be no status quo change in ideology or leadership style. Abduction, war, ethnic cleansing and ethnic hegemony. Good the useless aid has stopped just to see how self-reliant people are and expose that the aid was not really funneled to somewhere else.

But we still see the focus is on the crippled and half dead TPLF instead of bringing about lasting peace in the country. The political wheel is run based on the most controversial Ethnic privileges, dominance and Ethnic constitution.

If they continue to choose the ethnic politics on their dead body, it is not fairly and justifiably implemented the most abuse still on Southerners where Killistan is denied to the likes of Gurage, wolyita etc and Amhara is not fairly, justly represented (except yes men to self-assumed "galla tribe" leaders).

Also, power sharing is not fair or just because the self-assumed "galla tribe" leaders concocted a rubbish party called prosperity party lead by quack policies and what have you that collects garbage yes men from all ethnic but do nothing say nothing for their region. We know the global focus is on self this time but still, some form of engagement is expected.

Good question: US proxies established on political ideologies, usually on religion or ethnicity, are there to stay, permanently, unless local revolts change them.

Hindu religion nationalism in India, Islamic nationalism in Afghanistan, ethnic nationalism in Ethiopia doubling with Christian nationalism are here to stay.

Ecen after Biden expelled Ethiopia of Abiy Ahmed from AGOA, a license for privlege access to the US markets without taxes, USAID was still flowing to Ethiopia, amounting USD 1.16 billion for 2024.

Now, access to AGOA continues to be denied to protect TPLF, but food and medicines still enter Ethiopia free of charge. Amara, Tigrey and Oromo receive over 90% of the USAID due to wars.
And Ethiopia has not collected taxes from these regions for years. Ethiopia is being run on taxes collected from SNNPR, gov owned business such as telecom, electricity, water, donations from Europe such as Britain, Germany, France, and loans such as IMF.

“Ethiopia is being run on taxes collected from SNNPR”

And the war to keep “ethnic hegemony” and prop up the purportedly “Oromo King Abiy” is fed with the poor uneducated youth from the south.

South is politically useless and does not understand regional right.

I found this news about India interesting

Am not sure you are right that Ormo Abiy Ahmed, "7th King" of Ethiopia's misrule of Ethiopia is aided abetted by the SNNPR youth, excluding the Sidama, born and nourished by Isayas on request by SLF. Other than Sidama, the rest of former SNNPR youth and people are not politically organized to have a decisive voice to oppose or support any Ethiopian gov. They present neither a challenge nor support pilitically. No perks also goes to them from the federal gov like Sidama. He denies them financial favors because of absence of vocal and organized suppor for him from there.

Important to know that most of Abiy's active support comes from the Oromo and Amara.

We in Southwest Ethiopia are just too much laid back
and docile. Docility, political inactivity happens in the history of people. Usually after a colossal loss and defeat. Yemesafint Zemen in Amara is an example of disunity after defeat by Imam Ahmed El-Ghazi and Oromo invastion. Southwest Ethiopia also has not recovered from punishing losses to the conquerer king Menelick.

Abiy's backbone for his power are resourced from the inexhaustibly massive popoluation of Amara and Oromo. As many as there are who hate from these two largest Ethiopian groups, there are more who support him than those who hate him.

I think one colonel from SNNPR recently died in war with Fano. There are a lot of southerner soldiers in the name of Ethiopia who become a cannon fodder in this war. We remember there was a wide rumor TPLF used other tribes from south as cannon fodder and to disable mines during the Ethio-Eritrean war. There was a saying the Tigrayans would be bosses and be behind in the war while other tribes were made front line to receive the brunt of the war. The Oromo youth may be in large number in the so called ENDF primarily because they are blindly preached, they own 4Killo (like the way they say it in the misguided and emotionally immature song). However, the remaining pool of the soldiers is in service in the false guise of non-existent Ethiopia or just for a living.
Don't sandwich your nightmare Menelik in this. Save that for yourself. We heard that many times. The south and southwest have lost themselves in the Old Ethiopia and have not realized well the situation in existence now or they know but afraid to stand for themselves. They might still feel Ethiopia is there, they can go to Addis and do business etc. They have also forgotten self-defense because of almost hundred years of central government protection of peace and security. In the end they may wake up one day, but it will be too late by then. Also, you don't have to be a warrior to be a political animal. We remember, the Oromo youth immobilized TPLF just with massive demonstration in their region and blocking Addis which later was supported by other regions. The south simply is not a political animal or don't have the experience (even when they are in politics, they don't have independent say but become servants of whoever is in power). There was a cartoon picture when TPLF came into power; the cartoon represented SNNPR as a person. In this cartoon, SNNPR was represented by a person with big head, leaning its head backward, the backward heavy occiput or back of head pulling him behind and falling behind all Northerns in a running track (meaning SNNPR not completing evolution and unable to politically run with others, pulled behind by the big head it had). It was to mean SNNPR follows whoever is in power.

Don't ride the hate horse against the people of southwest Ethiopia!
That's all I can say.

No, I can say more.
It may not be too far into the future that these silent, honorable and faultless nations of southwest Ethiopia may not take in the excesses of coordinated waves of hatred from the crippled Tigrey, sweeping across the "Blameless" Amara and joining the pre-existing animosity of the invasive Gallas because they protected their lands.
Trust me, southwest Ethiopians will rise up! Haters will have no place to hide!

Your supportive evidence?
Hailmariam of wolyta got same position by chance as Abiy the drifter who ever has been maiming and waring with everyone whereas Hailmariam all the time said he was leading by the spirit of Meles. If Gurage or Hadiya had the same chance they would not have a spine to lead independently by their own wisdom.
They are useless bunch of slaves that follow whoever is siting on drivers bench.

Unfortunately, the policy will remain the same unless the country miraculously attains its independence. As an African, it is embarrassing to hear the country's top diplomat saying "ጌቶቻችን አይፈቅዱልንም" when asked why the country cannot live in peace with itself and all its neighbors.
