Abaa Gadaa system is for Boran and Guji peoples. While the Abaa Gadaa is a leadership role for the Guji and Borana peoples, it does not apply uniformly to all Oromo groups (especially Gurage, Arusi and Hararghe peoples), as the Gadaa system varies regionally.

The Irreecha festival and the Abbaa Gadaa system does not belong to all people who currently claim to be Oromo but to certain tribes and groups. Both Irreecha festival and the Abbaa Gadaa system are religious practices. The Aruso and Hararghe Muslims, as well as Gurage and Kerreyu, do not share the same beliefs as other groups.
