When President Donald Trump announced he would impose a 150% tariff on BRICS nations that move away from the US dollar, I couldn't help wandering about its impact on Ethiopia whose 80 years of existence is attributed to American largess.

US Secretary Marco Rubio's recent phone call to Abiy Ahmed, which many analysts think was to urge Ethiopia withdraw its membership from BRICS or face the music, could soon reveal the true nature of the country that cannot survive without USAid.
