I will share census from 2007 from the EPRDF party and see if the claim of "10 million" amharas living in Oromia is true or not..

According to Meles Zenawis/EPRDF Census of 2007

Amharas in Shewa - 595,000
1. North Shewa Zone - 214,700
2. West Shewa Zone - 106,000
3. East Shewa Zone - 207,000
4. Southwest Shewa Zone 68,000

Amharas in Arsi - 455,000
1. West Arsi Zone - 78,000
2. Arsi Zone- 377,000

Amharas in Welega - 224,000
1. East Welega Zone - 131,000
2. Horu Gudru Zone - 36,000
3. West Welega Zone - 16,000
4. Kelem Welega Zone - 41,000

206,000 Amharas in Hararghe
106,000 Amharas in Jimma
100,000 Amharas in Illubabor
80,000 Amharas in Bale
36,000 Amharas in Guji

Total 1,800,000

Meles Zenawi regime counted 1.9M Amharas in Oromia in 2007 so the number is of by 100,000

Meaning 7.2% of Oromia Population was ethnically Amhara according to EPRDF in 2007

So in 1994
Oromos in Oromia - 15.7M
Amharas in Oromia - 1.6M (9%)

In 2007
Oromos in Oromia - 23.7M (+150% growth)
Amharas in Oromia - 1.9M (+120% growth)

This means either Amhara birthrates are lower or a hidden Genocide occurred in Oromia during TPLF era

This roughly estimates to 2.5% of Ethiopias population being Amharas in Oromia so using that number around 3.3M today with Amharas being 7% of Oromia population

Around 36.6% of Ethiopia's population live in Oromia




The fact is their is no evidence for the claim of 10 million amharas living in Oromia

1. Low estimate - 2 million Amharas in Oromia at 2025
2. Middle estimate - 3 million Amharas in Oromia at 2025
3. High estimate - 4 million Amharas in Oromia at 2025

I bet if you counted mixed ones, it will be larger. The mixed identities always tilt to the one who holds power. In short, mixed identities are opportunists. Expect those who count themselves as Amharas in Oromo region when Fano enters 4 killo will be 30-40 millions.

Oromia has only 45 million people

Mixed ones can number up to 5 million who knows

But the pure amhara number 3-4 million
