Dr. Abiy Will be the Last Oromo in Finfinné Palace to Serve the Amaranet Bloc!
By Fayyis Oromia*
All Oromo elites, who had power in Finfinné palace up to now served effectively the Amaranet bloc at the cost of Oromummà camp. Dr. Abiy is not different from them. He served the bloc Just like Mengistu H/Mariam did. He is still keeping the existing domination of Amarigna/Amaranet instead of promoting Oromiffà/Oromummà to its legitimate leadership position in the federation. Despite his loyality to them, Amara elites couldn’t trust him just because of the Oromo blood he carries. They betrayed him and now are trying to get rid of his regime. Surely, there will be no Oromo in Finfinné palace in the future, who will serve them after Dr. Abiy. The next Oromo as a leader in the palace shall be very good loyal servant of the Oromummà camp and with that will definately come the end of Amaranet domination in Ethiopia.
The political devide, which started in 1270 take over of power by Yekuno Amlak (culturally Amaranized biological Oromo) is simply between the royal family, who spoke Lisane Negus (Amarigna) and common citizens at the area, who used Agawigna and Oromiffà. Logically, the language of the royals was revered and languages of the citizens were despised. Accordingly, the common citizen started to compete and strive to be fluent in speaking the Lisane Negus. Through this process, majority of the Agaw in Gojjam, Gondar and Lalibella as well as most of the Oromo in Raya, Shoa and Wallo become Amaranized. This process of Amaranization is still going on in the whole Ethiopia, specially in cities starting from Finfinné. How many of us have children and grand children, who lost the primary language of their parents and only can speak Amarigna? Dr. Abiy and his prosperitan group belong to those, who rever Amarigna, instead of giving due respect to Agawigna and Oromiffà. Even some OLFites, who used to struggle for further development of Afaan Oromo joined Dr. Abiy just to try to speak fluent Amarigna, forgetting their duty of promoting Afàn Oromo to primary working language of the federation.
Now, it is becoming clear that there is no ethnics called Amara or Tegaru, but there are Amarigna and Tigrinya speaking Cushites (mainly from Agaw and Oromo origin). Starting from the power takeover of Menelik at the end of the ninteenth century till 1991, Amarigna speaking Oromo of Dirré-Sàwwà (Shoa) being helped by their Oromiffà speaking kins formed, dominated and ruled the empire. Menilik was a figure of the Amarigna speaking Sàwwà Oromo and Gôbana was symbol of the Oromiffà speaking kins. During this reign of Amarigna speaking Oromo, the Amarigna speaking Agaw of Gondar, Lasta and Gojjam benefitend secondarily.
In 1991, Tigrinya speaking Agaw of Tigrai also being helped by their Agawigna speaking kins got a chance to take power and ruled the empire with brute force. As we saw their determination to rule further by any means, no surprise that they declared 100% victory in “election” and massacred the Oromo mass for 27years. Here also the Tigrinya speaking Oromo of Rayya and Azebo got a secondary position to get benefit. Amarigna speaking Agaw of Gondar, Lasta, and Gojjam were marginalized just like Amarigna speaking Oromo of Gojjam, Gondar, Shoa, Wallo… etc and like the Oromiffa speaking Oromo. To Change this trend, the Oromo and others created common vision and the necessary alliance against the tormentors. The common purpose was union of free peoples, be it that we call the union as Ethiopia or Oropia!
Now, it is up to the genuine Oromo nationalists to change this trend. We have to persuade Dr. Abiy and his prosperitan group to stop revering Amarigna and to start respecting Oromiffà. Afàn Oromô deserves to be promoted to its legitimate position of being primary language of the federation, replacing Amarigna. I Wonder how Dr. Dima Nagaw (previous OLF leader) lost a gut not to speak Afàn Oromô in the parlament, which even Ob. Bulchà Damaksà proudly did years back. Who ever thought that the OLFites supporting Dr.Abiy are so quick to strive in speaking Amarigna, instead of further trying to develop and promote Afàn Oromô? They also seem to rever the Lisane Nigus at cost of languages of the common citizens. We like it or not, the current political conflict and struggle is not necessarily based on difference of class, ethnie, region, ideology or religion, but surely caused by preference of language. It is actually the fight between two language groups of the same biological ethnie. I can even simplify and say that the conflict is between Amarigna revering Oromo and Oromiffà respecting Oromo. I hope the second shall prevail. May Wàqa help us!
