The fable of the Greedy dog with a bone.

Post by Deqi-Arawit » 22 Mar 2025, 04:47

Have any of you read the story of the greedy dog? The dog already had a bone in its mouth, but when it reached a welll and looked down, it saw its own reflection in a well. Mistaking it for another dog with a bone, it jumped into the well to take it, only to meet its doom.

This is exactly what happened to our Tigrian cousins, Badme and their greedy nature to grab a territory from Eritrea, not only coerced to them to lose territory in Amhara region but also regions/territory which was part of Tigray during the derg to Afar region. እእዊኻ ዘይጽገቦ እዩ።

Big and Small Hanish Islands were part of Eritrea during both the Italian and Ethiopian periods. However, after Eritrea’s independence, Yemen attempted to change the status quo by landing soldiers on the islands and claiming them as Yemeni territory. In response and rightly so, after multiple warnings, the Eritrean Defense Forces took matters into their own hands and reclaimed the islands through military action. The conflict resulted in dozens of Yemeni soldiers killed and many taken as prisoners of war. After some [deleted] whopping, Yemen agreed to resolve the dispute through arbitration at The Hague.

The final verdict, however, was highly politicized and a clear miscarriage of justice. The ruling awarded all major territories to Yemen, granting Eritrea only a few small rock formations in between. Additionally, Eritrea was given fishing rights in the Yemeni-awarded waters. This decision effectively laid the groundwork for future military clashes between Eritrea and Yemen.

You might ask why I bring up this story. I remember the day the verdict was announced—I was completely devastated and demoralized. I couldn’t even leave my home for two or three days. Worse still, the ruling came at a time when Eritrea was already engaged in conflict with Ethiopia.

Raising a fuss about the verdict during such trying times would have been like shooting ourselves in the foot because the Agames were trying to portray Eritrea as a belligerent nation with hostile intentions toward every neighboring country and beyond. (Remember, Eritrea was also accused of supporting the Tamil rebels in Sri Lanka).

It seems, our Tigrian cousins handle defeat more gracefully than victory. All the teret-Teret, the Alpha and Omega is gone. This time, it is all about survival even if it means, sucking the Shilho of the sub-human Galla or appeasing the tere sega eaters.

This time you shall lose Eritrea & no Tigrayan shall help you! You committed genocide on Tigray & shouted game over but you are the one ultimately to lose every thing!
