Eritrea, has never denied Ethiopia access to its ports. If the government in Addis Ababa seeks to use them under a mutually beneficial commercial agreement that respects the sovereignty of both nations, it can do so without any obstacles today.
However, it was Ethiopia—under the TPLF—that chose to boycott Eritrean ports for two decades, believing that economic isolation would bring Eritrea to its knees. In the end, it was that very zero-sum mentality that led to the downfall of TPLF, which once looked mighty to fall.
Today, the real issue is that, much like his predecessor, the Prime Minister has chosen to pursue an outdated imperialistic policy of illegal land grabs instead of fostering regional cooperation and economic partnerships—all in an attempt to mask his own failures. It failed in Somaliland, and it will fail every time.
The dishonest narratives pushed by the army of social media operatives recruited by Abiy’s Prosperity Party—trying to distort the conversation around seaport access—do a great disservice to Ethiopians. These distractions shift attention away from the real cause of Ethiopia’s economic struggles.
To reiterate, Eritrea has never denied Ethiopia access to its ports. Ethiopia, like any other nation, can use Eritrean or neighboring ports through fair, mutually beneficial agreements that respect the sovereignty of all involved nations.

This is not a good thing for Eritrea, or for all Habeshas. The ferenjis will unite the Afars as Afars, if that happens most of south of the red sea will be another country that they will claim it to for only Afars. This is actually one of the ferenjis dream which is to create another small country at the cost that is detached from the Habesha influence.
