The establishment of an independent Afar state (Greater Afar State) from Ethiopia and Eritrea is the dream of every Afar and their friends, and it is a matter of time. The good news is that there are ongoing efforts by the Afar elites to bring all the factions together in one table to diffuse the tension by creating a unity forum that will revitalize the spirit of the struggle and bring out the latent potential. The Afar groups in Ethiopia and Eritrea need to work against the clock to build a cohesive military and political force to pursue their struggle for self-determination in the near future. The groups must realize the military struggle against Isaias and Abiy regimes will present a multitude of challenges that will not only pose a military resistance but could have long-term implications for the stability and the prosperity of the region.

Afars are the Kurds of East Africa. They should not be victims of backward political mentality. Both respective countries should work to respect their cultural heritage and way of life connected in a positive way. Many European countries have the same elements. You forgot conveniently the Afars in Djibouti The ideology of ethnic politics won't be contained by geographic pick and choose, unfortunately. There will be a lot to pay in the long run in the whole HOA region. Yoh have been fanning division and animosity, and the dividend seem to have bear its fruit. The quagmire that TPLF is in isn't lesson enough yet.

The Afar have no problem living with their Somali brothers in Djibouti because they enjoy many privileges and hold key positions in the government. I agree with you, and all indications are that there is a lot to pay in the Horn of Africa region, and most of the burdens (including social and economic burdens as well as ethnic conflicts) will be on Ethiopia, which will pay a heavy price for being the bad kid in Africa.
