It is because his mother was supposed to be Amhara. TPLF leadership was trying to pacify the two major Ethnic groups.

If Lemma had been the prime minister and Abiy the kicked-out guy, Eden’s statement might have been different. Maybe not. Lemma’s politics would align with those of the Adwa trouble makers for sure. If they miss him, it is no surprise.
