Abiy's main weakness, next to his narcism, is his lack of understanding of basic political principles. In comparison, even the less capable Derg has a better grasp of politics than he does. I've never encountered an Ethiopian leader who seems to have no comprehension of what politics entails. Anyone with a basic knowledge of political fundamentals can recognize that the country's primary issue stems from poor political practices, leading to conflicts, economic downturns, chaos, and lawlessness. For a stable and peaceful nation where one can govern for an extended period, addressing the root problem of bad politics is essential.

Abiy's complete ignorance of political basics means he not only fails to address the main issue but also seems unaware of what the problem actually is. Understanding a problem and choosing to ignore it is one thing, but being unable to recognize it is entirely different. Abiy lacks the ability to comprehend how both internal and external politics function, making it impossible for him to resolve the issues that arise from them.

This reality will continue to stretch his military thin as they are pulled from one conflict to another, with no resolution in sight until he "crashes the bus" and ultimately faces his downfall. No regime can last long in a complex country like Ethiopia with a leader like Abiy, who shows a total lack of understanding of fundamental political principles.

The main reasons for conflicts in Ethiopia stem from political issues. However, Abiy, lacking political understanding, fails to see that these problems are inherently political and cannot be resolved through military means. This lack of insight led Abiy to initiate wars within the country, mistakenly believing he could quickly fix political issues with force. He then seems puzzled as to why conflicts persist and rebels grow stronger. Instead of admitting that he is using the wrong approach, he shifts the blame to "external forces," specifically Eritrea, for his inability to defeat the rebels.

Today, the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) issued a statement blaming Tigray General Migbey  for Fano's coordinated attacks against them over the past three days in more than 37 locations across the Amhara region. Rather than recognizing that he is mismanaging the situation, Abiy attempts to explain Fano's actions by pointing fingers at General Migbey. The ongoing tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea trace back to Abiy's misguided efforts to disarm Amhara fighters. When those efforts failed, he quickly and very early began blaming Eritrea, even while Eritrea was still his ally and when there was no evidence of Eritrea collaborating with Fano. His lack of understanding of fundamental political dynamics leads him to externalize problems and play the blame game against everyone. His behavior only prolongs political problems from being fixed with political means. Hence, as long as colonel Abiy is in power there will be no peace in Ethiopia just like his colonel friend Mengistu. The two colonels simply don’t understand how politics works.
