Abiy's complete ignorance of political basics means he not only fails to address the main issue but also seems unaware of what the problem actually is. Understanding a problem and choosing to ignore it is one thing, but being unable to recognize it is entirely different. Abiy lacks the ability to comprehend how both internal and external politics function, making it impossible for him to resolve the issues that arise from them.

No regime can last long in a complex country like Ethiopia with a leader like Abiy, who shows a total lack of understanding of fundamental political principles.

When those efforts failed, he quickly and very early began blaming Eritrea, even while Eritrea was still his ally and when there was no evidence of Eritrea collaborating with Fano. His lack of understanding of fundamental political dynamics leads him to externalize problems and play the blame game against everyone. His behavior only prolongs political problems from being fixed with political means. Hence, as long as colonel Abiy is in power there will be no peace in Ethiopia just like his colonel friend Mengistu. The two colonels simply don’t understand how politics works.
