Last year, Ethiopia reportedly grew as much wheat as Ukraine, a major grain exporter, according to Abiy’s figures.
For context, Ukraine produced 32.2 million tons of wheat in 2021.
However, Abiy’s manipulation of economic statistics is a well-known fact among Western countries, who often dismiss his claims as irresponsible and childish antics.
