One thing I agree with you. Assab has no economic value without Ethiopia which is the point of my question above. So, all this abstract noise about Saudi ownership of Assab a stupid rich sheik's folly.
Therefore, your point is well taken, let say Saudis build military base at Assab!!! Then what? For what? Why do they need a military base in Assab? to fight Turkey? Iran? Israel? US? China? Egypt? Russia? or who? Houthis? Can you see how stupid strategy this whole drama is???
As for Assab - be it as commercial or military station - small Ethiopia supported guerrilla army will permanently disable it and render it useless!

Egypt/israel ultimate goal is for Eritrea and Ethiopia to fight because the more they bleed this countries the better. Israel and Egypt arming both sides and let them bleed each other is the ultimate goal
