President Trump recently reiterated his desire to retake control of the Panama Canal, citing national security concerns. In a major development, Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison announced the sale of its 90% stake in Panama Ports Company to a consortium led by BlackRock Inc. BlackRock is a U.S.-based company founded in New York in 1988. The deal will officially shift control of critical ports to U.S. interests.
