Why Oromo Ethnofascists hate multicultural democratic Ethiopia

Post by Odie » 04 Mar 2025, 17:22

1. Political Dominance
Aspiration for Power: Oromo ethnofascists seek to place the Oromo people at the center of political power in Ethiopia, aiming for the Oromo to control key government institutions. Their goal is to ensure that political decisions, lawmaking, and leadership are predominantly Oromo-controlled, dismissing the shared political power structure in a multi-ethnic state.

2. Economic Domination
Resource Control: By advocating for Oromo hegemony, they seek to control economic resources and wealth, redirecting national wealth to benefit the Oromo people. This includes gaining access to strategic sectors such as agriculture, industry, and natural resources that have historically been dominated by other ethnic groups.

3. Control of Security Apparatus
Ensuring Military and Police Loyalty: For Oromo ethnofascists, controlling the military, intelligence services, and police is crucial. By placing Oromos in charge of these security institutions, they would ensure that any opposition or challenges to their rule are effectively suppressed. This control also ensures that Oromo interests are protected at all costs.

4. Cultural Expansion
Promoting Oromo Identity: Oromo ethnofascists aim to elevate Oromo culture, language, and traditions above all other Ethiopian cultures. They seek to expand and impose Oromo cultural values nationwide, potentially sidelining or eliminating the influence of other cultures in Ethiopian society.

5. Territorial Expansion
Expansion of Oromia: A key aspect of Oromo hegemony is the idea of expanding Oromia's territorial boundaries to include Oromo-populated regions outside its current borders. This expansion could involve the annexation of areas with significant Oromo populations, further consolidating Oromo power and territory.

6. Destroy Reminders of Historical Ethiopia
Rejection of Old Ethiopia: Ethnofascists in this camp often view the historical Ethiopian state as a symbol of oppression and marginalization of the Oromo. They aim to dismantle the legacy of the imperial and Derg eras, which they associate with Amhara and Tigrayan dominance, and erase symbols, monuments, and institutions tied to the historical Ethiopia.

7. Complete Oromization of Other Ethnics
Assimilation and Conformity: A key goal of Oromo ethnonationalists is to push for the assimilation of other ethnic groups into Oromo culture and identity. This would involve a process of “Oromization,” where other ethnic groups are encouraged (or coerced) to adopt Oromo language, customs, and political ideals, diminishing the plurality of ethnic identities in Ethiopia.

8. Fragmentation of Classic Ethiopia to Remove Its Influences
Destroying Ethiopian Unity: Ethnoffscist seek to fragment and weaken the traditional Ethiopian state structure, viewing it as a legacy of domination by non-Oromo ethnic groups. By promoting the breakup of Ethiopia or restructuring it under Oromo hegemony, they aim to remove the historical and cultural influences of other ethnic groups, particularly the Amhara, Tigray, and others, to create a new, Oromo-centric political order.
