Boset woreda is one of the few woreda were gallas are reconverting to Waqafana religion. Nearly 12,000 Gallas left Tewahedo religion and reverted to pagan waaqafena religion sincr 1994 in Boset Woreda. Tewahedo 79% in 1994 and Tewahedo was 60% in 2007 by now Tewahedo is a minority!

In 1994 The majority of the inhabitants of Boset were Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 79% of the population reporting they practiced that belief, while 14.42% of the population said they were Moslem, 5.04% practiced Waaqafenna traditional beliefs numbering 5478 adherents , and 1.08% were Protestant.[4]
