Ukraine was the bread basket of USSR

During the Second World War, Hitler sacrificed most of his soldiers in Ukraine. Ukraine was a pride to the Soviets. Then, the great Gorbachev showed up. An educated very civilized leader came straight out of the dark Soviet Union’s womb. Gorbachev wanted peace, justice and civilization for all of the World. He made peace with the his rival, the USA led by president Ronald Reagan. The two leaders became best friends. In tandem, they destroyed the wall of separation within Germany. Berlin replaced Bonn as the capital city of Germany. Germany flourished. President Reagan promised comrade Gorbachev not to intervene in the newly formed Russian States’ political or economical boundaries by all of Western NATO members. Ukraine did not have to be a member of NATO. It was not worth it. Now, the damage is done. Putin is a weasel. But, if he is any smarter, he needs to bring peace back through fraternal gesture to the people of Ukraine. Zelenskyy needs to accept reality and concede power through democratic election. Former Soviets’ republics do not need to be members of NATO. Give Sweden credit. Sweden recognized the danger some eighty years ago.

Both Tigray and Ethiopia (the breadbaskets of Africa) avoided geopolitical entanglement by declining NATO membership. Very smart move!

Abby Lady, don’t get me wrong. I like what you post. But, the fact is …
Ukraine was known as the breadbasket of the Soviet Union because of its fertile land and high agricultural yields. However, the Soviet government's policies towards Ukraine have been influenced by its dependence on Ukraine's wheat and corn.
Explanation
Fertile land
Ukraine has rich black soil, called chernozem, that's well suited for growing grains.
High agricultural yields
Chernozem has a high moisture storage capacity, which leads to high agricultural yields.
Stalin's collectivization
In the early 1930s, dictator Josef Stalin forced local farmers into a state-run agricultural system, which led to a famine that killed millions of Ukrainians.
Post-war reconstruction
After World War II, Ukraine was rebuilt and maintained its status as the agricultural breadbasket of the Soviet Union.
War in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine has disrupted the country's food and agriculture industry, affecting food security for millions of Ukrainians and beyond.
Ukraine is still known as the breadbasket of Europe. It ranks highly as a producer and exporter of barley, corn, rye, and wheat.

What you just posted isn't fact, It's baseless western war propaganda, Ukraine is part of Europe and has the exact same geological structure as the rest of Europe, In fact, Ukraine is as poor as Poland, Hungary or Romania in terms of natural resources and the so called Western world is very well aware of that, especially the United States of America.
