Few examples of Ethiopia's war-mongering toward Eritrea, from 1892 to 2024

-1892: We knew that the policy of Ras Alula was “War at any price”. British diplomat Gerard Herbert Portal:

Ras Alula Qubi, was a bandit and warlord from Tigray who massacred thousands of Eritreans. He committed genocide on Kunama and Nara ethnic groups, in Eritrea.

-1960s: Dawit Wolde Giorgis, a former Ethiopian officer, described the army’s approach in Eritrea:

The army ... entered Eritrea in the 1960s with the mentality of a conqueror... It did not concentrate on attacking the guerrillas directly; instead it devastated the villages suspected of harboring them... After they ran out [of rations], they were expected to live off the land, to take what they needed from the people.

-1967: Ras Asrate Kassa, Eritrea’s governor, declared,

I will leave Eritrea as bare as my bald head…

during Operation Scorched Earth, where 5,000 soldiers burned 60 villages, killed 402 civilians, and slaughtered 60,000 livestock.

In July and November, 176 villages in Semhar and Senhit were razed.

-1975: Brig. Gen. Getachew Nadew commanded,

I shall not see any tree standing,

ordering the massacre of Tselot village’s inhabitants.

-1974-1991, Mengistu Haile Mariam: The former president vowed,

We will fight until the last man and the last bullet,

overseeing the deaths of tens of thousands of Eritreans.

-1998: Gebru Asrat, Tigray region administrator, stated,

No matter how many lives it takes, no matter how long it takes, the war (against Eritrea) will continue.

-2000: PM Meles Zenawi justified war spending, saying,

We do not believe that protecting one's sovereignty is a luxury for the rich alone,

spending $1 million daily, despite 14 million starving Ethiopians.

-2023: PM Abiy Ahmed warned,

Before we face hunger, before we face complications, we need to discuss (port access)... If we cannot import food because of access to the port, we will survive by eating anything we get,

hinting at potential aggression.

These examples illustrate Ethiopia’s recurring aggressive stance toward Eritrea, marked by brutal military campaigns and territorial assertions.

YouTube activists” that are fully funded by the government of Ethiopia are attempting to create a narrative, that a conflict in the Horn of Africa is coming. They are working tirelessly to paint a picture, as if Eritrea is mobilizing its army.

There will never be a war with war-torn Ethiopia that is on the verge of fragmentation.
