The downfall of Getcho from the President of Tigray to a ምስለኔ of Tigray
Getachew has morally and politically lost the Office of President. The president is supposed to harness the capabilities of the Tigrays political parties, the TDF, and the people of Tigray to deliver restoration of Tigray's territorial integrity and reconstruction of Tigray's economy. He has now lost the support of the TPLF, the Army and Tigray's Opposition Parties.
He is currently the President of Tigray in technicality terms only. Changing of the president of the Transitional Adminstration requires TPLF's and the Federal Government's support according the Pretoria Agreement. Abiy sees how dysfunctional the Tigray government has become following to the division of TPLF's leadership in the summer of 2024, and thinks that is good for his Prosperity Party. Abiy has refused to agree to the changing of top leadership of the Transitional Administration because he believes that the division is weakening Tigray and it is in his interest to continue the weakening of Tigray.
Getachew know that he cannot lead Tigray while he has lost the votes of confidence of the TPLF, the TDF and the opposition parties. But he is angry and in "ባልበላውም ጭሬ ልበትነው" mood. The longer he continues as head of the government, the longer the government will be dysfunctional. Nobody can argue against this fact. Is it time for him to draft his resignation letter for the sake of the nation?
Although he know that Abiy is definitely happy to keep him as president (and continue the dysfunctional government), is it time for him to resign for the sake of the nation?
We are playing zero sum game now!!!! - Getcho
