Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty emphasised Saturday that no military or naval presence of any non-littoral state in the Red Sea would be accepted.
FM Abdelatty made his remarks during a conference in Cairo with his Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh and Somali counterpart Ahmed Moalim Fiqi.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the three top diplomats agreed during trilateral talks on the periodicity of ministerial meetings.
"The next meeting will take place in the Somali capital of Mogadishu," Abdelatty said, noting that arrangements are underway for a trilateral summit at the presidential level soon.
The Egyptian FM also pointed out their agreement on the critical importance of implementing the outcomes of the Asmara Summit, rejecting any unilateral actions that undermine Somalia's unity.
"We reaffirm our commitment to Somalia's unity and territorial integrity and supporting the Somali government in extending its authority across all national territories and combating terrorism," Abdelatty said.
