I probably could have joined this worship congregation if I were in Addis.
Wel-done EoC youth. With this, they blurred the distinction between Evangelical/protestant worship and EoC priestly worship.
After all, we are one people, one in worshiping same God.

Many from both sides sometimes make fleshly mistake. Specially now, prosperity evangelicals. Christians should tolerate and work together on major issues. I like the Yared-style EoC worship and BEGENA in addition to my regular evangelical/protestant songs. I have the right to do that. Many protestants/evangelicals were from EoC. I love they bring the EoC style quire worship into evangelical/protestant churches, and it is superb.
I think we should learn to tolerate one another in many things, and this is just one area. We can make boundaries and respect lines.

Of course, I also prefer the tricolor plain flag. The song choice is yours and nice. I choose to listen a combo from both sides as well as from English. I like the BEGENA but not brought to evangelical/protestant churches so far. Here is how churches divided. The division is based on having how many canonical books, the nature of Jesus and other spiritual things. The Great Schism took place between catholic and eastern orthodox churches in 1054. Then Protestantism vs. Roman Catholic division in 16th century. Anglican Church (Church of England) vs. Roman Catholic church division in 16th century. Then the Protestant-Catholic Split (17th century) took place. The Pentecostal Movement started Early 20th century. Personally, I believe that should not be a reason for dog fight style fighting among Christians. They should tolerate their differences and respect each other. There is always a place for working together with respect, without name calling. Also defending each other at time of persecution like the one EoC suffered recently. That culture would be fine in everything, even in day-to-day life. When people have a good knowledge of Christianity, there develops respect and tolerance. Ethiopian Orthodox church is not part of Eastern Orthodox church but belong to a group called Oriental Orthodox churches including Syriac, armenian and Coptic church of Egypt/now of Alexandria who separated from other christianity and went their own way at around 450s.
The Ethiopian church followed the Coptic (Egyptian) church (now called the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria) in rejecting the Christological decision issued by the Council of Chalcedon in 451 CE that the human and divine natures of Jesus Christ were equally present in one person without commingling. Opposed to this dyophysitism, or two-nature doctrine, the Coptic and Ethiopian churches held that the human and divine natures were equally present through the mystery of the Incarnation within a single nature. This position—called miaphysitism, or single-nature doctrine—was interpreted by the Roman and Greek churches as a heresy called monophysitism, the belief that Christ had only one nature, which was divine. The Ethiopian church included into its name the word tewahedo, a Geʿez word meaning “unity” and expressing the church’s miaphysite belief. You have a problem. The problem of hate and peace. EOC seemingly only teaches hate and war..How else can you explain then the history of Amara and Tigrey is the history of hate and war. The history of Amara and Tigrey is the history of EOC. The only conclusion that can be reached is EOC is a theology of hate and war.

The theological differences have been there for long time and may not go away. I highly appreciate the current trend of EoC specially the solo and quire songs as well as christ centered preaching. The current protestant scam that started as a copy from Nigeria/Africa and prosperity gospel from USA which is dangerous is worrisome. Now even crept into political system creating false assurance and another scam. Mixed with ethnic politics it is proving dangerous.
The main stream protestant churches have to work hard to weed out false teachings, scams and false teachers.
I always give credit to EoC for keeping the unity of the country for ages and fighting colonialism. It has made a history of its kind.
The country is being invaded by imported cultures from middle east to elsewhere and christians should work together for their survival and survival of ages old cultures of the nation!

What if they are trying to brainwash the younger generation by making it look like that there is only minor differences in a hope of creating a very loosen society? When it comes to the concepts of Religion and Nationhood, the seculars (ለዘብተኞች) always lose the game and invite a trouble. The EOTC and the Ethiopian State itself did not survive through secularism (ለዘብተኝነት). It survived with a NO sentiment and the will to revoke any threats from within or outside. Ofcourse we all look at this differently. I look at it from the higher level, the intention...etc and an average citizen would look at it from the bottom level without questioning why, who...etc?

I understand your concern specially Misraq. Wether politicians have a hand on any change in the way the congregation, specially the young operates in EoC. It is a good question, I hope it is not so. Politicians should not be allowed to get into religious issue. Period. EoC has its own way of operating things through church rules. EoC probably losing the young because of pull and attract force with other christian sects in the country. The youth/ordinary congregation does not understand Geez and has difficulty of grasping the old liturgical practices of EoC. As a result the church risks losing its members due to the effect of other churches. As a result probably I suspect they have started preaching well in the common Amharic language and may be even with ethnic languages. They have also allowed the youth to engage in church worship with this nice melody using the church vocal routine that created such a nice effect for Gena. I think that is a the right step they took. If you see the copts, they sing and preach the same way. Good for their congregation. Of course, the more you control any movement like this, chao ensues and there is a risk of separation as happened to ማህበረ ቅዱሳን and አማኑኤ ህብረት that came out of EoC but stand by themselves without mixing with evangelicals although their belief is not much different from protestants.
I am sure EoC is in control and does not let any political interference from PP/OPDO. I hope they keep their congregation stable but allow the christ centered preaching in plain language and give their congregation a chance to a worship opportunity.
As far as I am concerned, I just wish they continue christ centered preaching with amharic or other local languages people can understand and keep this beautiful youth song of worship. They should at best clear themself off politics specially with current ethnic fascist system while maintaining their stable congregation and national unity.
About the worship posted above, is I think from Yougo church
from addis ababa. To my knowledge they were not like current prosperity christians. They probably are from orthodox background. Mostly Amhara (gonder, airlines hosts etc). Sorry for mentioning ethnics. I have been there couple of times long ago.
