Volcano eruption is not necessarily a punishment, it is also one way of getting fertile soil out of the belly pf earth. People living in volcanic area loves to stay because of the rich soil for cultivation.
In fact, Ethiopia is the most blessed in the region. Ethiopia receives more than 1000 milliliter rainfall annually, Egypt 100 m, Sudan, 150, and Eritrea 200. Look how the listed places arid while Ethiopia is blessed by rain as she is by underground and surface water.

It's a blessing. I told you this long ago that a new ocean is being formed that starts from Afar, run through oromo and down to Kenya. Your names says it all - you are a dystopian by birth. The sky is falling type. Ethiopia is a beautiful country where the marvel of nature is seen. It is endowed with variety of temperature zones, agriculture, wild life, languages, very talented and entrepreneurial minded.
