Happy New Year!!!

Post by ittuabafarda » 31 Dec 2024, 23:30

Meanwhile, I would like to take a moment to wish you all of my very dear countrymen/women from every country in The Horn of Africa A Happy and Rewarding Year in 2025 and years beyond that. It is also my Best Wishes for that gem of a region that produced us all that will somehow find the wherewithal to be at peace with itself in the coming year. Let's all monger peace and stability for those innocent besieged people. Enough with finding solutions to issues with guns. Enough, enough, enough! Insha'Allah!!!

As the New Year 2025 is already here, let's all pause for a moment to remember those who are with us anymore. Some of those were committed dear friends of our old country. We lost one of the greatest friends of Ethiopia; Harry Belafonte in 2023 and in 2024 Ethiopia lost one of its steadfast friends, Quincy Jones. These two stood by the sides of the people of Ethiopia who were dying from man-made famine in 1984-85 when everyone else was looking the other way. Harry came up with a wonderful idea of getting celebrity singers together to sing for charity. Lionel and Michael wrote the song and Quincy arranged and conducted it to be the #1 pop song of all time. The top music celebrities of the time were in the recording room in profusion. The Banana Boat himself Belafonte was out there. Billy Jean Michael and the entire Jackson brood were there. Girls Want To Have Fun Cyndi Lauper serenaded everyone in the room. Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, Hit The Road Jack if you will, were singing from the top of their lungs. Goddesses Tina, Diana, Dionne had graced the microphone. Bruce was not Dancing In The Dark that night. Paul Simon was not with Julio Down By The SchoolYard that day. No sir!!! They were all there to stand by the starving and dying people of Ethiopia. Many of those friends of Ethiopia are not with us anymore. Let's remember and thank them one more time.

Above all let's not forget those hundreds of thousands of young people our old country lost in stupid conflicts started by bigots and connivers since 1974. Young people are still losing their Allah Blessed lives after being hoodwinked by smart alecks. Let's take a moment to remember them! May all rest in eternal peace!!!!

Let’s also hope and do our part to bring peace and stability in the entire region of The Horn of Africa. We should make such blessed effort our top resolution of 2025. 2025 is not just another year but it is the beginning of the 2nd quarter of the century leaving behind the chaotic and destructive quarter for the region we all come from. That region has entered the 2nd quarter with some encouraging news on one hand and sad events at the same time. The recent Ankara agreement is something to savor. But the senseless bloodshed in Oromia and Amhara regions is a tragedy that should never have happened. I will be holding the leaders of the regional, federal and rebel leaders equally responsible for the death and destruction that is taking place in those two regions. They all know better because they are said to be well-read individuals.

They should have known the historical fact that political and economic issues were never amicably solved through violence. Democratic governance never came out of the barrels of the gun since the American War of Independence in 1776. Instead, taking up and running to and wandering in the bushes never brought a system where no one is above the law. Such choice of violence in addressing issues paved ways to bring in craftier new despots. Once these types of despots have grabbed the mantle of ruling their country, they are well equipped to keep it until they leave their palace for their graves with dynasties in place. You want proof? Just look around in the region. So let’s be part of the blessed effort to bring peace and stability for those beleaguered noble people who produced us all. Insha’Allah!!!

For all of you bigots and connivers! I have a very bad news for you. You have been dancing dagadash exaggerating dreamed up news that Somalia and Ethiopia are on the verge of going to war with each other. You have been fanning flames of imaginary war between these two fraternal people from your comfy homes here among the Diaspora. Ain’t gonna happen. Our patriot sister and Tayitu’s incarnate Defense Minister Aisha is in Mogadishu and has inked an agreement with Brother Hassan Sheikh Mohamud‘s government for Ethiopia and Somalia to work together in the peace keeping mission as sanctioned by the UN and AU. The other bad news for you is the government of Puntland has temporarily waved import taxes on trucks carrying goods coming from Ethiopia. So take this from me. Na, na, na, na nah! Eat your crow and die at your stinking joint in Minnesota, LA, Toronto, Oslo and Down Under!

Bigots and connivers! Our sister and Defense Minister of Ethiopia H.E. Aisha bint Mohammed has swung her right hand and landed a devastating bolo punch right on the kisser on your ugly faces. You look uglier now!!! Ethiopia has vowed to recognize Somalia’s sovereignty and Somalia will do the same in return. So, you better shelve your wild dream of yanking away a territory to call it your republic of personal fiefdom. Here is what you should do. You see that lake or pond near you? Go there and jump in the deep end and don’t you ever think about coming up. Your bosom buddy Shaitan will come and join you down there. Ooo weeee!!! What good riddance!!!

Harimade Ana Haban; Ana Haban; Galada Same Nagaadhsi!!!

My long time Somali friend had joined me in this celebration of the moment.

All Glory to you, Ministers Aisha bint Mohammed and Brother Ahmed bin Moalim Fiqi! Go get'em tigers!!!!

I call upon the Nobel Prize Committee to consider Sister Aisha bint Mohammed and Brother Ahmed bin Moalim Fiqi for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025. They deserve it.

The same area just got hit by the biggest one yet at 5.8 in a town called Abomsa with a population of about 20,000. This earthquake is not dying away but it getting bigger and more frequent. The ground is splitting in many areas and leaving many huts cracking into two pieces. The usual and normal Mount Fentale volcano is gushing out steam, mud and fire. This is not a good sign. I call upon experts in seismology among our Diaspora to provide much needed expertise so a much more disaster can be avoided. This is not a man-made disaster that can be accurately predicted. But the government has been adequately forewarned. If this earthquake keeps creeping up and hit major metropolitan area like the capital, it is going to be a disaster where millions could perish. This is not funny, okay.

Casting aside this demonic and destructive ideology that preaches about the only way issues can be solved through armed violent means, let’s all do the best we can to make peaceful solution the only way. In the modern recorded history, armed and violent form of struggle never ushered a system where no one is above the law. What it did instead has been creating despots who are never willing to pass the mantle of ruling their countries to others outside their cliques. What the heck, after riding on the backs of their citizens, they have now started talking about creating dynasties ala the Un ways. So, if someone tells you he is the ‘liberation’ of this or that, don’t believe him.

Peace y’all!!!

The earthquake is now traveling and hitting towns faraway from where it originated. There was a measurable tremor of 4.6 at Bedesa, a town in the middle of the Chercher Highlands in Western Hararghe which is about 150 km from Awash, where it started. The country’s capital Addis with its 5 million+ is about 200km from Awash. The Rift Valley seems to be dancing all the way to Zimbabwe. Very worrisome. Let’s hope and pray that it will stop before it causes the worst natural disaster that country ever seen. Since AWOL soldiers and truant rude students overthrew the late Emperor in 1974, houses have been built with no regards to mitigation of natural disasters like earthquakes. They have been and are still built solely on the whims of the deep pockets. The speed you will get the building permit depends how much you greased the palms of the officials in charge with. From what I hear, except those high rise buildings built during the late Emperor’s time, the rest built since there are like a stack of concrete sitting on foundations of glass. May The Almighty Forbid, if an earthquake of more than 7.0 or more on the Richter Scale hits the Awash area, I don’t want to even think about the scenario in large cities nearby and including the capital itself. They better think about reinforcing the glittering high rises they built since 1974. They should learn from Taiwan’s bitter lesson from the late 1990’s major earthquake.

Meanwhile, I checked a few websites among our Diaspora and noticed that none of them mentioned a single word about the wildfire that has been raging in LA county. It has not reached every district but the impact is huge. There a sizeable population of Ethiopian and Eritrea descent and it must have affected them already. I wish these websites also pay attention with what is going on in our communities here in the USA and Canada, good or bad news. Be that at it may, my family's thoughts and prayers are with our dear countrymen/women who call LA country their domicile.

Since the late 1960’s, there had been young men and women who dedicated their lives for something they believed was the right way to improve the lives of those noble and upright people. They adopted a foreign ideology so foreign to the cultures and values of the country. They stayed the course to the end not minding their personal safety and financial well being. Many of the survivors died destitute. But those after them seemed to have learned a lesson from their predecessors and started monetizing their so-called ‘struggle’. In our present days, go-fund-me cash cows are intelligently utilized. Some of them wrote books and made a kill out of it with their books flying off the shelf. YouTube, X, Facebook, Telegram and other social media outlets have been put to good use as money making machines. None of them have been audited by independent accounting firms. You see all of them living in luxury homes and driving the latest models including those so-called fund raisers. They peddle hate and are skilled in feasting on the raw emotion of the gullible and easily trusting majority. They are trusted just because they are Oromos like me. They are trusted because they are Gondaians like my lifelong Gondarian friend. That is why I call them bigots and connivers. May The Almighty Our Creator Save Our People!!!
