If Ethiopia starts a war to take back Assab and then loses the war, what will happen?

Is that the end of the story?
There could be some people who may think so.
But reality ís something different. Assab is first and foremost an Ethiopian property. Ethiopia's future destiny is inseparably intertwined with the free (unfettered) access to Assab, it is simply the nearest point to access Red Sea as the optimal point of access (economically, logistically, temporally etc.), as such be it a risk or an opportunity it greatly affects Ethiopia national destiny, which is the largest population size of the region. Sea is a natural commodity of any nation of this planet, it enables them access to the international maritime trade, and other sea born resources. A maritime trade is a critical component of a nation's economy. As such it has to be secured, without a dependable security of the trade-line the sovereignty of a nation will be undermined. There are a lot of risks, God forbid that. The same is true of the opportunity an access to the sea may avail. The case of Ethiopia's separation (the delineation) from the sea of more than 1000 KM across the sea coast is not natural, just looking at the boundary could reveal a lot of injustice imposed on the people of Ethiopia. This has nothing to do with a given government of the nation. Government may come and go, the people stay on, we (at the personal level) may not be around in few years' time, but the interest of our nation persists on.
Injustice has been imposed, injustice has to be removed using the same means it was imposed on us. If any government in Ethiopia declares a war to regain control over Assab, then that war is war of full fledged emancipation of the more than 130 Million souls. It can even then go on and lose the war, but the urge to remove the imposed injustice will live on. Ethiopia, under Abiy Ahmed or any future head of government, will make at most priority of securing access to the sea and has to be planned and executed in due time.
Justice delayed, justice denied!
The peaceful way of resolving the issue has proven itself intractable time and again, in such a case the use of full force remains the only option.

It would be a suicide mission.
Last time we were fortunate enough to have a few survivors who used words like "ተጨፈጨፍን" and "ተቀጠቀጥን", depicting their ordeal in all its gruesome detail.
I'm afraid if we were ever to commit the same grave mistake again, there won't be any survivors left to tell their story, and we may stand to lose our fragile country altogether.

Tigray lost over a million and half of its young population trying to do the impossible. Millions more are now walking Tigray's mean streets on crutches, who stand as a vivid reminder of how ignorance mixed with inferiority complex can destroy a society. Your idea of "freedom", which sounds like the freedom to die, is never taken away from you, but you will still have to go back to Ethiopia and be on the front line of the war to exercise this freedom. In fact, the less people like you we have in Ethiopia, the freer the country will become.

Yes, I am aware of the fact that I wouldn't be at the war front and wage the battle from there, I am cognizant of that. But because of that it doesn't mean also I shouldn't state the reality on the ground.
I stated the slim and very miraculous possibility of Eritrea winning a war against Ethiopia, the core message of my post, but that doesn't mean the issue at hand will be off the table with that. Get the message first! Bunch of low IQs, you can never learn something in your life!

If it weren't for Eritrea, you wouldn't be here to pontificate! Be grateful that Esu saved your arse and make sure you don't provoke his ire. He has a habit of burying enemies!
