Ethiopia has access to many ports and Abiy can manage to get port service costs down by getting the various ports compete against each other. Other than that, ቻችን cannot be attached to any of the ports as they don't belong to Ethiopia.
The Somaliland fiasco has forced Abiy to be re-acquainted with the reality on the ground - respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of his neighbors and diplomacy based on respect for international rules and norms is the only way forward. He showed that he has accepted the reality by signing the Ankara Declaration. He is saying now "እኛ እናሳካዋለን አላልንም፤ ልጆቻችን ያሳኩታል ነው ያልነው።"

The seventh king of Ethiopia will most likely disappear before he finishes his seventh year in the throne! Then, you will have hundreds of ports! Well, life is a bi.tch for a sob!

Yes, he admitted to that. He believed, like many of us, in the peaceful coexistence and thriving for a shared destiny for the people of our region is much better than any sort of settling disagreements by means of force. But he didn't see any reciprocation in good will from the other side, he has to give up his stand, in the absence of any other option. I think I also did the same thing.
But the saying "it takes two to a tango" bears its truthfulness as always.
If they only understand the language of force, then you have to use the language they understand. This is his message!

In short, what you are trying to tell us is that Ethiopia should settle itself with the imposed status of "geographic prison", else no way to lead a more free life as a giant of over 130 Million citizens already and the number still rising?
It could have been conceived in Cairo, implemented by the clique ruling in Eritrea today, with the collaboration of those who had power in Ethiopia itself by the time, but the bottom line is that we have now realized Isayas Afworki is the enemy nr. 1 of the 130 Million. Either we stand up and remove the nr. 1 enemy or settle ourselves for the humiliating status of 130 M imprisoned human body under the watch guard of 1 man.
