The diiferences of approaching, persuading people to believe and act, to bring them the light of Allah between Christians and Muslims is vastly different and not even comparable. I have seen such unpolite, disrespectful, commanding behaviors of Christian preachers in video and in person. Also, they preach to you in a language you may not understand. For example Gurage peasants, eventhough the priests know they do not understand Amharic, they preach to them in Amharic or Geez. This unfair. They don't how the peasants feel stupid wasting tgeir time and humiliated. Also kills pride in their identity.
Of course Amaras went thru similar thing when Christianity was preached to them only in Geez.
I hope, as a church inpsired politician, you may grow to authority and put an end to this unchristian imposition of language onnthose who do not know it just so the non-Amra Ethiopians would be taught to learn who is the boss.

You are pulling me into a sticky subject again. First thing Christianity and Islam are not comparable. You can't compare apple and orange. They are very different. The only similarity is that they are religions and are practiced by people.

Firstly, Amharic is well understood in many parts of the country as it is a national language. It is the ethnic politicians and "thinkers" who make a hill out of a mound. Secondly, now many churches preach in local language, including EoC.

I know Islam. They initiate a war or mayhem if their book is translated from the "god's" language Arabic [where it is thought Mahamad received it in that language] to any local language. When I was a small kid, all they have in rural villages was Arabic book on donkey back moving place to place.

The bible is more translated book than the Quaran.

If people were allowed to read and listen in Amharic only, nobody should be agitated for that because our forefathers thought to stich us together to make the country thrive and that worked for a century or more which now the ethnic morons are undoing by killing to simply upkeep their power.

In any case, the thought is translating religious books from the original language to other languages, as mentioned above, was feared will cause a loss of meaning in the process or like "lost in translation". Some may have thought the original language the book appeared, like Quaran, was allah's language and the book should not be translated to other language. EoC, ages old and that thinks it has its own original work, has its most documents and books in Geez like the Arabic Quaran which might have slowed translation. The Ethiopian Christians specially during his majesty time made available translated books in Amharic, national language, and formed the Ethiopian bible society for long time unless it is your usual hate for Orthodox church and Amhara. It is the woke activists like yourself that may think using Amharic for preaching or reading the bible as means of oppression/colonialism. And because of that stupid thinking, many people have been killed in a barbarian way, and many are in container Prision in Eritrea simply because the system wanted to control the religion of the people.

Since society change, those "lost in translation" ideas and god's own language ideas may have changed. Society may have made mistakes in the process of reaching here today but that does not mean we have to reverse history and retaliate or cry about it.
