This must have nothing to do with Birhanu Nega. I don’t think he knows the place at all. He grew up in Nazareth or Debrezeit. I hope you are not serious.
She did offend us all. I know the place. It is an area with its own history and significance. It is called ቆሴ by amharic speakers. Its proper local Gurage name is ቆስየ::
She sounded like the amharic version of “Karen” or the hater abyssinialady on this forum. It is a culture many got from feudal system that used to call others durogatory names or poor nurturing to kind of downlook others that don’t belong to their band. If she simply did the blunder of mispronunciation, she should have said so and the backstage stupid occurrence should not have been shared on tiktok unless she had agenda, someone tricked her, or she wanted attention of clicking. Everybody mispronounces words not of mother tongue. But it should not have been a problem for her to say the word right as ቆ and ሴ are amharic alphabet sounds. It should not have been funny because there are other funnier place names than this even in amharic. She should not have been only fired but if it was elsewhere she should have been sent to see the place and the Kose community at her own cost for community service to get it over. Current generation in Addis is not even Ethiopian from the way it lives. They live in fantasy world celebrating halloween like irish, christmas like the west, valentine day like british…they don’t care about the political predicament the country is in and they don’t know sensitive stereotypes and don’t understand the meaning of prejudice or the hate politics fire they sitting on the wheel of which invented by ወያኔ & ሻብያ now perpetuated by the Oromo ethnofascists.
