With due respect, your prediction incorrect. The U.S. will never ever turn her back against Shabia/EPLF, TPLF and OLF. Had the U.S. wanted that Isias was gone 24 years ago - she could sent a copter with 5 snipper shooter and made Isaias history.

What freedom? Freedom to sell kidneys in Egypt to Saudi and US kidney transplant patients? Freedom to exile and exodus in mass to Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, SA, Europe, North America, Middle East? Over all, Isayas has hurt Eritrea more than any the presumed enemy Ethiopia would have hurt it. There is gratitude by the US to EPLF, TPLF and OLF. They helped bring down a socialist government of the DERG. That was not just the last and single mission they help carry out in Ethiopia. As a proxy, EPLF was given a wide discretion by the US to play regional roles. He did so exactly to help disintegrate Sudan in supporting South Sudan to the pleasure of Obama. He overstepped his role when he opposed the American invasion of Somalia and arming Alshabab, which he quickly stopped. He persecuted Eritrea so that democracy and freedom of speech will not hold, which the US doesn't care and doesn't want.
Totally harmless to the US but was a very profitable Christian who rebelled and destroyed ELF which had strong ties with Baath Party governments of Syria, Libya and Iraq.
