Saving face for clown Abiy, providing him with an exit from his protracted embarrassment, humiliation, and disgrace due to the fraudulent fake MoU he signed with the administration of the northern region of Somalia.
This agreement does not offer any naval base or a coastal land to Ethiopia, neither is Ethiopia, in reality, interested in using Somali ports, including Berbera port, as these are not cost effective due to their locations and the massive infrastructure, including roads, that would involve, compared to Djibouti port and the brand new Tadjoura port with its own brand new road from Tadjoura all the way inside Ethiopia. Needless to mention Eritrea's ports, provided relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea thaw.
Other than that, this agreement stipulates nothing more than a jumble of déjà vu jargon which is completely devoid of substance, leave alone a practical one that could be beneficial to Ethiopia or anyone else.
