The poor Russians are in a big mess, because they just lost their only major naval base in the warmer Mediterranean Sea in Syria. With their Black Sea fleet tied in the war in Ukraine and the Baltic Sea surrounded by NATO forces, the Russians are very desperate for a respite Naval base, even temporarily.
It is true, Issaias is not strategically smart, however,what Issaias should do now is kick the opportunist coward Egyptians out and invite the Russians to lease Assab. Russians, who are very close friend of Ethiopia too, may bring peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
