Ethiopian Airlines is struggling to remain in business
Ethiopian Airlines is experiencing a never-before-seen decline in passenger numbers on Africa flights due to fierce competition from Middle Eastern carriers, such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Saudia Airlines, Flydubai, Oman Air, Flynas etc, Slowly but surely, Ethiopian Airlines is being driven out of the African market, Turkish Airlines alone operates staggering 273 weekly flights to African countries, while Qatar Airways currently serves 42 cities in Africa, Emirates is not far behind, It serves 41 destinations in Africa.
Currently, 80 percent of the African traffic is being served by non-African Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines'share is only 10 percent, It's over for Ethiopian Airlines, 10-15 years from now there will be no Ethiopian Airlines.
The giant Middle East Airline Carriers are dominating African skies, It's over for Ethiopian Airlines.

Eating Ethiopian Airlines's lunch.
Eating Ethiopian Airlines's lunch.
Somalia and Djibouti have quietly suspended Ethiopian Airlines authorisation to operate passenger flights between Djibouti and Mogadishu, Qatar Airways and Egypt Air are now operating daily flights from Djibouti directly to Mogadishu.

UAE airports welcome 36.5 million passengers in 3 months
Monday, 20 May 2024 15:01 By ARN News Staff
A total of 36.5 million passengers travelled through the UAE's airports in the first quarter of 2024.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said this figure marks a 14.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
The breakdown includes 10,874,232 departures, 10,723,639 arrivals and 14,944,466 transit passengers.
Meanwhile, the UAE's airports handled a total of 1.1 million tonnes of cargo during the three-month period between January and March 2024, marking a 32 per cent increase year-on-year.
National carriers accounted for nearly 68 per cent of the total air freight volume in Q1.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of GCAA, attributed the growing figures to the collaborative efforts between the authority and its partners at both federal and local government levels.
He added that the strategic opening of new markets for national carriers, facilitated by 189 air transport agreements with countries worldwide, has been crucial in fostering partnerships and promoting the open skies policy.

Ethiopian Airlines has rerouted most of its flights to Europe/US away from Asmara, Kassala Sudan is the new route.
Kassala Sudan is the new route.
Kassala Sudan is the new route.
Eritrea has restricted or banned most Ethiopian Airlines from flying over Asmara airspace, I think Djibouti will do the same.

Ethiopian Airlines's loss in Eritrea is Turkish Airlines and Flydubai's gain.
Ethiopian Airlines has already lost millions of dollars in revenue as a result of the suspension of its services to Eritrea, as the saying goes someone's loss is someone else's gain.
The biggest loser is, needless to say.
