Blood imports is one of the biggest costs on Ethiopia's foreign reserve for medical reasons. It could save the hard-earned currency by establishing a Blood Bank and encourage or incentive citizens to donate blood.

The other foreign reserve drainer is textbook imports. Despite many universities and colleges, and lecturers and professors, negligible number of Ethiopians, if any, write textbooks for universities, colleges and high schools. Neither does the Ethiopian MoE.
