Eritrean people work very hard. There reason you see a lot of Eritreans in Addis and elsewhere is because they are looking for a better life. They go through any channel to make it happen. Better life. Period. The Ethiopians who face starvation do not live in cities and towns. They live in the rural areas. They are not not trying to get out of the country since they don’t know any better. On the other hand, if Eritrea was democratic, I dought you would see youngsters leaving or trying to leave the country like you may have witnessed the last few years.

Of course, Ethiopia should help Eritrean refugees. In fact, Ethiopia should discourage Eritreans from fleeing to Egypt that has proven dangerous to them. Ethiopia should also make sure that it accepts only genuine refugees but spies for the old rotten diaper are carefully filtered out.

They had the population size wrong. The UN or IMF used a 132 million figure.

It would be interesting to see the ruralv. urban, regional (killil) and ethnic distribution of this 86 million person poverty. It is a good thing this sorts of data is known. But in order to make data meaningful and pin down the specific - the data must drilled down and disaggregated by killil, ethnicities, rural and urban centers as well as how many people in each category.

First, definition of poverty itself is important. Does it mean the remain percentages for those countries listed on the tables really rich or well to do? Which country's standard is used as a gold karat? Poverty has diverse definition, economic or anthropological etc. just like beauty varies in the eyes of the beholder. For some one in Africa whose livelihood depends on Cassava or cactus, having abundant of it means wealth whereas someone it means harvesting tens of Quintals of Wheat or Teff, and still for others earning above the national Median annual income in Dollars, etc. Or it could translate into someone with 10 camels in nomadic arid areas, or owning 5 mules in Woyna-Dega, or driving most expensive cars in the West.

If one attempts to compare Africans by the Western totally monetized country and life style, all African countries are 100% poor. Then one can end up all are entirely ugly economically. Sadly, many African countries are poor because of man-made poverty while some are naturally barren at least at this stage of human civilization - does not have enough rain, farmland, resource.

Exactly, eritreans are searching for food so they had to walk to Ethiopia illegally by paying $10,000 US dollars to smugglers all paid by their families in diaspora. Like you said because they want a better life since there is no life in your shi'hole.

How about the 1.6 million ascaris with their kidneys reaped out and killed by Egyptians. Did I just see Esayas negotiating with Egyptian president. Shaking and hugging him

If Eritreans are coming spending $10,000 US just to come to Ethiopia, they are just tourists. Their relatives overseas will send much more funds as needed. Treat them as such. $$$$$. Over populated poor Ethiopia has 86 million in poverty, and your master, the little Galla Abbiy was one of them a few years ago. They used to call him የወያነ ቡቺላ.
