All generations of Ethiopian leaders thought about improving addis without killing the lives of Ethiopians and am sure there is a master plan or design from the past but no body thought addis ababa will have ethnofascist political destruction and construction like this without preplanned design just to satisfy the whimsical of a bipolar leader

The AA master plan is updated every 5, 10 or 20 years but this has normally little effect on the long term physical development. In essence, it’s a living document involving regular reviewing and updating of regional development goals, policies, socio-economic dynamics, etc. This comprehensive study incorporates also the so-called “sanitation & slum upgrading programs” along with new developments, some of which had been already implemented during Derg & Woyane.

Oromuma’s urban development program is spontaneous, radical & cruel, bulldozing & flattening everything to the ground. You can displace poverty overnight but you can never eliminate it with a mere bulldozer.

አንተ አዲስ አበባ ውስጥ ምን ሰፈር እንዳደግ አላውቅም። እኔ አዲስ ከተማ በሚባለው በመርካቶና አማኑኤል መካከል ነው ያደኩት። በእኔ ሕይወት ያዲሳባ ማዘጋጃ ሁለት ግዜ ግዙፍ የቅያስ ፈረሳ አድርጓል ። ያውም በሕዝብ ጥያቄና ድጋፍ ፣የሰዎች ቤት ከሁለት እስከ ሚቁረጥ ድረስ ። ያኔ ያዲሳባ ሕዝብ 350 ሺ ነበር! የደርግ መንግስት ቤት የመንግስት ከደረገ ይህው 50 አመት ሊጠጋ ነው ። ይህ የመንግስት ቤት የተባለ የአይጦች መርቢያ ቆሻሻ በዚህ መልክ ሊቀጥል አይችልም። የቆርቆሮ slum ሲፈርስ ለሕዝብ አዘኔታ መሰል መቆርቆር ማሳየትና ለዚህ ግዙፍ ግዙፍ ችግር መፍትሄ ማቅረብ ፍጹም የተለያዩ ናቸው ። እኔ እስካሁን እንዳየሁት ከዚህ የዛገ የቆርቆሮ ጫካ በፍርሰት ምክንያት የሚወጡት ሰዎች ቤት አልባ የጎዳና ተዳዳሪ ሲሆኑ አላየሁም። ከነበሩበት የራቀ ቦታ ተወስደዋል። አሁን ሚዛናዊ የሆነ ሰው የተሻለ መፍጥሄ ያቅርብ!

ከዚያ በተረፈ ማንኛው የመንግስት ስራ የፖለቲካ አላማ አለው። ይህን የሚክድ የፖለቲካ እንሰሳ ሊሆን አይችልም። ኦሮሞቹ ለምንድን ነው የሚጣደፉት ለሚለው መልሱ ቀላልና ሁለት ነው። አንዱ ስልጣን ያላቸውና ተጽኖ ማድረግ የሚችሉት ከተማዎች ውስጥ ብቻ ስለሆነ የሆነ ለውጥ ማሳየት የሚችሉት ከተማዎች ውስጥ ስለሆነ ነው። ሌላው የሕዝብ ተቃውሞ ለማዳከምና ከሚቀጥለው ምርጫ በፊት በቂ ደጋፊ ለመፍጠር ነው። ይህ የመግስት አላማ ነው። ይህን የራሱ አላማ ለሟሟላት ሲል ግን እጅግ አሳፋሪ የሆነው የ7 ሚሊዮን ሕዝብ መታመሻ የቆርቆሮ slum በከፊልም ቢሆን እየቀረፈ ነው። አይ የኦሮሙማ መንግስት እስካለ ድረስ አዲስ አበባ የቆሻሻ መጣያ ትሁን ማለት ፖለቲካም ሕዝባዊነትም አይደለም።

ፖለቲካ የሪያሊቲ ጨዋታ ነው። ፓርቲዎችና ቡድኖች መንግስት እስከ ሚለዋወጡ ድረስ አገር አትቀጥል አይባልም። የበለጠ ኅይልና የተሻለ መፍትሄ ያለው ፓርቲ ማጆሪቲውን ሕዝብ መርቶ በስራና በሃሳብ ማሸነፍ እንጂ ቅሻሻ አይወገድ፣ መንገድ አይጠረግ፣ ፓርክ አይሰራ ማለት ጸር ለውጥ መሆን ነው! ያ ደሞ ያንድ ተራማጅ ዘመናዊ ፖለቲከኛ ብቻ ሳይሆን የመልካም አሳቢም ዜጋ አመለካከት አይሆንም።

This is not about me. This is not about what I desire or not. This is not about what hate or disdain. This is about being realistic. This is about trade offs. The direction of development of Ethiopia will be decided by the balance of power of its population and their organizational and political competence. While social forces fight over matters of power and governance, the people have to continue to live on, to exist. Addis Abeba population cannot continue to live in these kinds of shameful squalor and slums.

This is my view. It is entirely healthy that others have a different perspective. Bottom line, the people taken out of these slums are not made homeless street dwellers.
