Amara holds the second majority seat in the bicamera parliaments of Ethiopia. There is no legislation, no laws, no regulations, no amendments that come into force without the express votes of Amara representatives in both parliaments of Ethiopia.

Amara voted for Oromo to take Lake Zway, Weliso, Sodo Jida, and for Silte to break way from Gurage. These losses to Gurage would not happen without Amara support for the Oromo and Silte proposals.

Amara did not protest the choice of referenda and vote irregularities, coercion, intimidations, influence abuse, bribery, miscounts, etc.
