The reign of Menelik and Haile selassie led to the Christianization of Southern Ethiopia

1. Arsi Oromo were mostly pagan and avoided Islam until Menelik appeared as a form of resistance 70% of Arsi natives embraced Islam and only 30% of Arsi natives embraced Christianity.

2. Jimma embraced Islam in 1840 as the people of Jimma abandoned the Gada system in 1840 due to many issues.

3. The remaining pagans of Gurage were Christianized by Menelik

4. Silti and Halaba were historically under the Shewa sultanate of the 12th and 13th century and also the Harar sultanate and many others.... The Silti tribe preserved Islam during the Oromo migration. The Oromo migration destroyed Islam's presence in Shewa, Bale, Arsi, and Haraghe many local Muslims were Paganized by Ireeecha religion but Islam succesffuly would slowly return to Eastern Ethiopia

Psychological trauma afflicts when individuals and groups are forced to abandon their age-old belief system created by their unique cultures. Forced conversion, because it inflicts psychological trauma should be a compensable crime.
Though forced christianization was more severe in the northern Ethiopia than in the south, nevertheless it's a crime against the humanity of Muslims and pagans.
Ethiopia should establish a committee of experts sourced from law, religion and psychotherapy, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, to establish documents of suffering and corresponding compensations by Ethiopia.
