Abiy is increasing oil prices by 21% in 5 months referencing "የአለም የነዳጅ ዋጋን መነሻ በማድረግ" while the world is talking about 25% oil prices crush since January 2025. Does he think Ethiopians do not know the state of international oil prices?

Why oil prices are falling and what it means for the economy

President Trump promised that during his presidency gasoline prices would drop and U.S. oil production would boom.

One of those things is happening.

Prices at the pump have indeed gone down, largely because the price of crude oil has dropped by nearly 25% since the start of January. West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark, dropped from a peak of around $80 a barrel in mid-January to just under $60 today.

But that's not because U.S. producers are opening the spigot. Indeed, prices are now low enough that, on average, U.S. producers cannot profitably drill new wells, according to the latest survey data from the Dallas Federal Reserve.

I cannot understand why media agencies like Addis Standard would not use percentage analysis in the below reporting?

Using percentages enhances audience understanding and clarity by providing concrete numerical data, allowing readers to grasp trends and changes more easily than relying on abstract descriptions. It also allows for comparisons across different groups or time periods, highlighting significant differences or similarities. Percentages help illustrate how things are changing over time and can quantify the impact of events or policies.
