In this news from Haaretz, these young Eritreans are pleading to be allowed to join the Israeli army just to get "a sense of belonging", not even residency paper. FYI, the fact that they're not granted a permanent residency or citizenship is purely due to discrimination and racism. A "sense of belonging", which starts with an external stimulus, spans way further than that and can be expressed in a number of various forms and is not exclusive for obtaining residency permit or citizenship.

How many Ethiopians have renounced on their citizenship and have applied for asylum as Eritreans? This is much worse than joining the army of the country where you're living to enhance your legal status in the country.

Have you ever heard of "La Légion Étrangère", or The French Foreign Legion, in France, which is an elite military unit of the French Army that accepts foreign volunteers to serve in France and abroad? Do you know what is the most tangible thing that these fuc'king volunteers get in return? A fuc'king French citizenship.

Make no mistake, your fuc'king Ethiopian Falasha are fifth class citizen in Israel, and as Ethiopians are passive compared to Eritreans, they're enduring and taking in harsher and much more abominable treatments in Israel.
