For Isaias the winning strategy against Abiy is to immediately occupy Tigray and use it as a buffer zone & source of fighting force that will enable him to defend against Abiy's intention to topple him. Occupying Tigray is going to be challenging to Isaias unless he allies himself with the Debrestion TPLF. Abiy's marginalization of Debrestion group may force Debrestion to establish a tactical alliance with Isaias, to the extent the Debrestion group may immediately escape to Eritrea and start a gorilla fighting establishing its base both in Tigray & Eritrea. That could be followed by Amhara, Tigray & Eritrea forces jointly marching to Addis Ababa to topple Abiy.
Abiy's foolish game to divide & weaken TPLF instead of creating a win-win alliance with TPLF may detonate on his hand and ultimately destroy him. .

You are too emotional . You are not intelligent. What Isayas needs to do is, retire and allow the bright young Eritreans to lead a peaceful independent country. Eritrea is not part of Ethiopia. It needs to be very independent. Your internal affairs is your own business. BTW, Abbiy is trying to achieve complete control over Tigray. Remember, his threat mainly comes from Amhara. He knows, he can not win by himself. Perhaps, all this may lead to disintegration.

That's the least likely scenario. Regardless of the current regimes sins, Pres Isayas definitely is smart enough to not empower his former foes who once tried to destroy Eritrea and/or install a puppet regime in Asmara. The tplfs past sins cannot be overlooked so easy and many of them laid the foundation for the recent war in tigray, tigray being surrounded by hostile neighbors, etc.
It's good if the tplf led tigray tries to make peace with their neighbors and come to terms with the fact that their fair share of the political power is in accordance with their Population, which is 8 percent or so. The old days of looting and tigray hegemony are gone, and shall never return.

Debresion is a warmongering, power hungry politician like the rest of the former eprdf members, from what i see, the only appealing thing is that he isn't as close to being a puppet of abiy in comparison to getachew reda. So some tigrayans see him as being a "protector" of tigrayan "autonomy."
