Post by DefendTheTruth » 29 Sep 2024, 15:29

Wow!
What did the Warriya (I think it means a herder or something similar) of Somalia say, when they heard this?

Ayele Megersa
He is reportedly a permanent representative of Ethiopia at UN, the position formerly held by His Excellency Ambassador Taye Atseqeselassie himself, current Minister of Foreign Affairs.

1997 they tried by means of an election (እናግባባ) and didn't succeed to enter 4 Kilo, then they decided to use violence (እንደፍጥጥ) in the year 2023 and failed to secure 4 Kilo again, still they have no shame to criticize the others working to change the country.

Addressing somebody means getting your message also across, as effectively as possible and as efficiently as possible. He can address the audience at the UN in one of the homegrown languages of the country, but it is also clear that wouldn't meet the above qualities as much as English does, the lingua franca of UN and international diplomacy.

I think you were one of those who were so harsh at the current mayor of Addis when she tried to address the audience in English at some occasion just before few weeks or months. Now you are already obsessed with not speaking in Amharic.

In my view the Representative of Ethiopia, Ambassador Yossef (?), articulated the points of national concern and stand point of Ethiopia very well, with confidence and steadfast in the language fitting well for the venue and the majority of the audience.

DDT,

I criticized Adanech Abebe for not using Amharic ( the National Language of the Country) instead of looking words and grammars under the rock for an ordinary interview to speak in English. The Venue matters in terms of the choice of language of communication. In the UN, a self-confident nation uses its own language. You have watched France uses French, Russia uses her language, Chinese uses its language, etc. Ethiopia can use her National National Language of Amharic. This has a very significant message and its meaning is a lot for the country beyond the message. This avoidance of use of the National Language of Amharic started with Ascari Meles Zenawi since he had bitter hate against Amhara and died with his hate. Speaking fluent English does not explain the intelligence and smartness of a person. One can speak English fluently but very stupid.

Trust me, to anyone with a bit of education, boasting about the basic English of an Ethiopian can only tell about your own fuc'king poor English, which is manifest in what you scribble on this forum.

አይ የደደብ ነገር!

He shouldn't care about winning over the adversary (which is the main goal of the address), instead should have focused on the empty bravado of we are not less than anybody in our language? You have been blowing such empty bravado for over at least 100 years, while at the same time also failed to feed yourself enough. Thanks to Abiy Ahmed who came in and declared that has to stop.

Can you even imagine in your little brain about how that machine translation works and how it is used in different languages?

It is my wish to have Amharic to compete with the likes of French, Russian, Italian etc, but that remains a wish. We have too many inept like you among ourselves to have already reached there!

Aberu,

let me end by quoting my title one more time, I don't have endless time, I have to also earn my bread for my Supper.

I thought "fluent in English, articulate on the substance" means different to just saying he speaks a good English when I formulated it so.
