Master stroke by the President of Somalia Hassan Sh Mahamoud to remove Ethiopian Influance Out of Somalia

Post by Zack » 26 Sep 2024, 18:25

Today, a notable appointment was made in Somalia: Mr. Assad Osman a distinguished military officer, has been named the new Police Commander of the nation. Now, why is this significant, you may ask? Allow me to explain. For some time, Mr. Assad Osman has been engaged in a feud with his cousin, the President of Puntland said Deni, a federal state of Somalia. Though Puntland operates with a degree of self-governance, boasting its own constitution, legal frameworks, government, and even a flag, this autonomy is not the very significant part of the Matter, What is truly noteworthy is Ethiopia's long standing attempt to leverage Puntland's autonomy to exert influence over the Somali central government.

Indeed, Puntland has collaborated with Ethiopia on numerous issues and has even received weaponry, most recently within the past ten days. However, Mr. Assad osman appointment as Police Commander for all of Somalia could significantly undermine Ethiopia's influence over Puntland. His opposition to the current Puntland leadership means that Somalia's central government may now gain a stronger foothold in Puntland, enabling it to have greater oversight and influence within the region. This shift in dynamics could severely curtail Ethiopia's sway in Puntland.

Interestingly, the President of Puntland has now expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the Somali central government. This is no small development. The rift between Puntland and Somalia’s government originated over amendments to the constitution, spearheaded by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud. With discussions underway to resolve these issues, Mr. Assad Osman appointment may well strengthen the Somali government's position, dealing a significant blow to Ethiopia's influence. It is, without doubt, a turning point — one that will likely have lasting implications for both Puntland and Somalia. One might say, it’s a rather unfortunate development for Ethiopia, and ofcourse to our "dear old Horus," indeed.

Somali government appoints General Asad Osman as new police commissioner

Mogadishu (HOL) — The Somali Council of Ministers appointed General Asad Osman Abdullahi as the country's new police commissioner on Thursday, replacing Major General Sulub Ahmed Firin.

The Ministry of Internal Security proposed his appointment during the council's weekly cabinet meeting.

General Abdullahi previously served as the Puntland Security Force (PSF) Commander from 2007 to 2018.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promoted Major General Sulub Ahmed Firin to Major General on Wednesday during an event in Mogadishu. Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre appointed him the new Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation on Thursday.

What we in the region should do is demand that Ethiopia respects its neighbors sovereign integrities and give it ultimatum to either abide by the international community standards to use our ports for its imports and exports business, receive its donated food and use our ports, but we should never should allow it to even use its own ships to dock in our ports.
Ethiopia weak militarily might be but we should not allow it to import even one kalashnikove through our ports.
We all respect its territorial integrity, none of us planned or is planning to destroy it and thus there is no reason at all for it to carry weapons.
It is only the landlocked and brain locked ethiopia which is daring the same countries which it needs for its survival.
So we should all encircle it like we are doing and force it to sign charters to be a nice well behaved neighbor to all of us.
It is for its benefit.
After all none of us is demanding or claiming what belongs to it. But stupidly it does.
This is just logic.
So let the KIBAN EXWAN begin.

Zack,
As you well know, I have no need to know the the intricate and Kulage clan politics of Somalis. My sole interest is Ethiopia's return to her historical legitimate Red Sea position and see our great naval power up and running.

I find it both interesting and confirming that now your genuine concern is the very existence of Hassan Sheik's Somalia rather than wasting your time on the Republic of Somaliland. I see it as a sign of political growth.

Now, as for Egypt's folly into the Horn of Africa, I will assure that soon it will be dead. The fake 10,000 Egyptian army is just that fake news and epic drama ala El-sisi.

Egypt out of Somalia, our Navy on SLR coast, I am sure the rest of Somalia can work out some mutual coexistence with us. But, but, first Hassan Sheik must be liberated from Egyptian slavery.

As for Puntland, Jubaland, South West - they know what is good for them. Believe me whatever they decide, it will be because of their own pragmatic self-interest just like Somaliland. All intelligent people choose what is best for them & that is what they will do.

As I always say, follow the drama as it unfolds at the speed of light. Ethiopia is the king of the Horn! You deny this reality at your own peril.

Happy Mesqel!

isn’t police commissioner a relatively too minor a position to warrant significant implications? I could see the significance if this was Army chief position.

In general, police commissioners are supposed to be responsible for cutting crime and delivering an effective and efficient police service within their police force area. Unfortunately, police commissioners in Somalia have more political roles than ensuring that the policing needs of their communities are met and making the police answerable to the communities they serve.

The police force in Somalia needs to be completely reformed and restructured. Currently, they've the same rank structure as the Somali National Army, and I'm completely against this. Why does the police need to have generals, leave alone thousands of all sort of generals and all the other ranks below general, including lieutenant general, major general, etc.!

Puntland, Jubaland and Southwest very well.know the fracturing of Somalia and going solo is not in their best interests as well as that of the Somali Republic. I am sure common sense, pragmatism and the continuity of the republic of Simalia will take center stage. The interest of Ethiopia to have a naval base on the Gulf of Eden should not override the unity of the Somali republic.
Ethiopia can have the use of a seaport without the need to have a naval base.

I get Zack's point. The appointment a putnland police officer to the highest office of the Somalia police service could persuade Puntland that Somalia is open for similar opportunities of high offices where Puntland citizens can have impact on overall administration of the Somali repilublic. Th8s may work. It may influence Hassen Sheikh to compromise with Puntland or vice versa.

The selfish nation raker old Pagan Horus' contempt for Somalia is motivated by hatred for the Muslim Republic of Somalia as a threat to his Christian Ethiopia in the advancement of his Orthodox Christian supremacist dictrine. He says Ethiopia is divinely guided by Christ to have a naval base onthe Red Sea.

The same doctrine that informs his relugion-based divisiveness in Gurage of Christians and Muslims has created havoc on the unity of the Gurage tribe.

Zack,

In Puntland, there are two parallel security forces. One that takes orders from Siciid Deni, the current leader of Puntland, and the other one, called PSF, Puntland Security Force, which takes orders from General Asad. General Assad Osman has been the director of the Puntland Security Force since 2010 following the death of his father, who held this position from 2004 till 2010.

Although General Asad is now appointed as the national police commissioner, he has still got his security force (PSF) in Puntland, and they take orders and directives only from him even from Mogadishu.

Today, Deni was told by high ranking PSF officers that Assad could have both direct and indirect influence in Puntland and that he could come to Puntland at anytime and that they were still taking orders from him. This has inflicted immense distress upon Deni, and the picture shows the frozen atmosphere in which he's desperately looking down. He said that he was going to consult his aides and advisors, as his pompous ar'se got smashed and humiliated.

Yes exactly so in a sense the long arm of the federal government will have influence in boosaaso it was I guess two years ago when we had a total stand off in bosaaso. Beteeen asad Osman and said deni both Osman mahamoud clan both hail from boosaaso. It was the king of the daarood boqor burhan who then reconciled both men this is why it is so significant the naming of mr Asad Osman to this position he will be the police commander and he will be general that run the army in puntland
