Abebe Belew is a divisive figure. It is the likes of him and Habtamu Ayalew who encouraged Eskinder Nega to behave the way he is behaving now. However we will be better off to regroup and advance the cause instead of dwelling on issues that are irrelevant to the campaign.

Eskinder Nega is a good man and he is doing all the things he does with good intentions. He has been a peaceful struggle advocates all his life and he has a recognition for that not only in Ethiopia but beyond Ethiopia as-well. He is not a soldier and he will never be one. He is not a Fano let alone lead the Fano movement.
I know from which angle he is coming from HE WANTS TO NEGOTIATE BEHALF OF FANO AND SETTLE THE CRISIS PEACEFULLY. He tried that way with Balderas to resolve issues in Addis and failed.
So Zemene, Mere and Assegid are right to tell him NO. And he should be advised to restrain his ambitions. But we have to take it easy on him.

The Shewa Fano is divided and weakened by Eskinder Nega’S ambition. Remember Eskinder has never set foot in Gonder and has never been invited. They just don’t want him there. He has been once in Wollo and asked to leave. Gojjam kicked him out. Ask yourself, how can you be in charge of Fano with this kind of record? It is not going to happen.
For my fellow Ethiopians in Diaspora who are in search of a giant larger than life figure to rally around, they have to simply take it easy and trust the real soldiers who are fighting the fight on the ground.

Well said brother Right. I believe our culture contributed to our downfall. Almost all Amhara and much of the central highlands and the south Ethiopia has this old fashioned ideology of idealizing one man (kings and authorities in the past) but now political personalities and trust them unconditionally with out any form of questions. That may have served us in the old ages to rally behind one figure in times where communication was non-existent. People simply don't hear bad stuff and they were able to defend the country. But now, we have propoganda baragges, smear campaigns, fake news and everything erroding peoples trust on trusted individuals while at the same time people holding cult mentality on personalities

The rally behind Abiy which allows him to strengthen himself is the fault of our people. Those who questioned Abiy were scolded, insulted, smear campaigned and isolated. People with the same mentality allowed Eskinder to do heavy damage in Shoa. I even see that tendency on you not to question Eskinder and rather blame Ethio-360 and Addis Dimtse making them more sophosticated than Eskinder himself. I advise you to review that stance. If i am a political figure and if i become a source of conflict, division and controversy, i will simply quit. We know Eskinder doesn't have army, yet he is meddling and spewing venom and creating cracks here and there. He is responsible my brother.

The problem with eskinder is not his orgins

The problem with eskinder is that he raised $1,000,000 on GoFundMe through the name of Amhara and used all that money to bribe or pay Fano leaders across Amhara to elect him as the chief leader of Fano Amhara

Because Eskinder was in northern Shewa he realized that not all North shewans supported him equally. So Asseged Mekonnen and Engineer Dessalegn were not included in Eskinder fake election By the way eskinder attempted to assasinate Shewa Ez leaders like Asseged Mekonen and others for not electing or submitting to him

So eskinder is acting like a feudal thug from the 12th century dark ages and that is why Fano leaders are troubled by him.

Fano is basically federalist and not only represents Amhara but each zone of Amhara that elect their own zone leaders. Nobody can become emperor of fano without Amhara peoples support

So we judge him by his actions not by anything else!

That was what evil TPLF did. You have sold out Amhara who believe in the cause of PP and there were many other ethnics in TPLF who in fact died for TPLF.
It may be possible to emancipate Amhara region with purely Amhara Fano but unlikely succeed in Emancipating the country with 85 ethnics, Oromo included. Firstly never use ethnic slur if you hope to be a central government. Secondly you need to represent ethnic mix of the nation and lastly the group should show a better political program for implementation in the country such as citizen based democratic system that also addresses ethnic hiccups or regional representation. You may be right. I believe Eskinder is an asset in a different capacity and he will be called upon by the Fano leadership to play a role when it is needed. But right now he should find something to spend his time elsewhere

Some people believe ethnic struggle like Fano should eventually grow to embrace national aspiration. I see contradiction within. There is no precedent that confirmed that to have happened. If a “struggle” starts having the lowest denominator as its guiding principle , that it will descend to its worst form most likely is a given.
Take example the TPLF struggle. The Tigreans by comparison are more [deleted] than the Amharas. They live compared to Amharas in close proximity to each other. They are not dispersed among four provinces like the Amharas.
But even the Tigreans have to face undeniable fact : they too have differences. The Northern and Southern Tigray infighting that has been exemplified by power struggle between Getachew and Debretsion somehow was buried for half a century.
When TPLF was in power the division might not reveal itself is not surprising. Every Tigrean was awarded a “ምርጥ ዘር” ሽልማት, so the great majority was relatively content.
No matter how much the ER Fano fans wish it to be, the movement will not unite under any leadership because the Amharas want and desire is not universal.
For the last more than three decades we have been brainwashed to believe all Oromos think alike, all Tigres think alike, and all Amharas think alike. That is fallacy.
The ethnic politicians who spread the lie might somehow think alike, but the people they believe to speak in their behalf are not.
The Amharas have a legitimate grievances that should be addressed.
The ethnic politics that has mushroomed a half century ago singled them out as a pariah.
They have lived without genuine representation in a country that modeled its politics with tribal representation.
The way to address that issue is not to make the lives of Amharas to be more miserable than it had been.
With the current Ethiopian politics to believe that Fano will unite under one leadership is to live in constant delusion. It is not going to happen.

Which of the 14 requirements did eskinder fail to fulfil for him not to contest for the election? It is a well documented fact that one among the other five criterion that he failed to meet was to prove his Amhara purity.
