“All those who do not send their sons and daughters to school so that they can learn writing and reading skills which are necessary to identify the good and evils and develop fear of God and the king, will be punished 50 Birr. The money solicited from punishment will be given to the church for the feeding and clothing of the poor. . . All God fathers should advice their religious followers ….to send their children to school and if they refuse to do so they have to report to local authorities as they have violated the proclamation. . .All church leaders in the rural areas apart from their religious preaching should teach reading and writing.”

She maintained slave trade. She sat on mass graves all over the south. Genocides. War crimes. Looted cattle. Looted crops. Torched crops. Torched homes all over the south. She had household workers/gardeners whose male genitals were amputated during her father's blazing heinously violent conquests.
She lived off gebbars or chissangas's land rents who were otherwise owners of their land who did not have pay any annual fees for using their ancestral lands before her father turned millions of them into landless southerners who were insulted disdainful names.

All rulers are/were humans, the products of their era in which they were born, lived, acted and worked. They have their own weaknesses and strengths. Let us build on their strengths so as to become strong and eliminate their weaknesses so that it may not divided us and keeping us, our children, grand children, etc, down the line permanent weak and divided. :P

Mendlick's grandfather shifta king Sahle Sellasie in the 1830s was beginning to raid and sell Ormos and Gurages as slaves when Britain abolished it in 1834. His dad traded in slaves to buy weapons or in exchange fir weapon. History should kept as it was without whitwashing or sanitize it. This act is no criminal than the slave trade.

"On August 1, 1834, Britain passed the Slavery Abolition Act, outlawing the owning, buying, and selling of humans as property throughout its colonies around the world. While this did not free enslaved people in the United States, it was a source of inspiration and hope for abolitionists. It outlawed slavery in Canada, which became a haven for refugees. Black people in the United States and white abolitionists observed August First Day widely up until the Civil War, and the tradition carried on — to a lesser extent — into the early 20th century."

Bingo! Dama is Etoash. Dama’s dream is Wahhabism in Ethiopia that is why he insults our great royals.

Etege Zewditu looks like Adanech Abebe. I wonder if they are related? It will be good if Adanech is related that way, it will brush off to her what it means true leadership.

Call me anything. I can always clarify my position. I won't allow you to miseducate other's on my stand and intent.
All I am saying are two things:
1. Maintain history as it existed. Do not distort it, muddy it, sanitize it.
2. These bandit kings had European political advisors, chroniclers, gun suppliers, and missionaries in their courts and battle fronts. They could better, re: abolish slave trade, start and expand education, enter treaties with independent ethnic groups they want to annex but chose european guns by raiding them, selling them as slaves for their weapons and feast for the royal court from the proceeds of slavery, plundered their crops, cattle and burned their homes, and dispossessed their lands. A holocaust. Indeed, the word Shoa(shewa) in hebrew means holocaust.

Aisha being 6 or 7 years old at the time of her marriage, and 9 at the consummation; her age has been a source of ideological friction.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aisha

A Muslim girl asked and wrote the following.

How do I convince my Muslim family that Muhammad was a paedophile and a mass murderer?

Please, my dear Muslims brothers, read your holy books! Read the Sunnah of Muhammad! There are numerous references in the Hadith’s to Muhammad having married Aisha at 6 years of age and having consummated the marriage when she was 9 years old. You should embrace the truth no matter how unpleasant! You can at least use the usual excuse that it was the custom at that time to have a child bride. (I personally think it’s a lame excuse but at least it’s not denying historical facts.)

Here are specific historical references to Muhammad’s relationship with Aisha. (There are many other references available. You will need to make the small effort with your favorite search engine or library.):

Sahih Muslim, Book 8, chapter 10, verse 3309-3311

Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 234

Sunan Nasa'i: Bukhari vol.5 book 58, no.236 p.153 & no. 234 p.152

Sunan Ibni Majah, Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1877

Biography of Muhammad, Ibn Ishak/Ibn Hisham, translated by A Guillaume, page 792

AL-TABAR, Hadith IX:131

As far as Muhammad being a mass murderer, that too is easy to prove. Just one example you can reference: Banu Qurayza. This is the Jewish tribe that Muhammad had exterminated because they decided they no longer wanted to support him. The estimates are that between 600 and 900 men and boys that had reached puberty were beheaded and the women and children were sold into slavery. I’ll spare the reader the details but it was an all day affair that was recorded by Muhammad’s biographers. Warning, the details are very gruesome. This cold-blooded killing alone qualifies Muhammad as mass murderer. There are many other examples where Muhammad killed large numbers of people during his battles and during his years of caravan raiding.

There are other examples where Muhammad sent his assassins to murder anyone that disagreed with him. One was an old blind man! Another, a woman that had babies suckling at her breast at the time the assassin drove his sword through her! The details for these are easily found by searching through Islam’s historical documents.

The facts are there and they are undeniable! Do your homework! Don’t be ignorant or fall into “confirmation bias”! In the age of Trump too many people simply need to read it on the internet to believe it!

To answer the original question, “How do I convince my Muslim family that Muhammad was a [peado**] and a mass murderer?” I would recommend compiling a list of quotes from the biographer’s of Muhammad’s life (the Hadith’s) and let your relatives decide for themselves. But be aware, the power of denial is very potent, especially when it comes to their myths!

በቄስ ትምህርት ቤት ተጀመረ።
በኣንደኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ሰፋ።
በዩኒቨርዚቲዎች ትምህርት ተስፋፋ።

Despite political differences and activism, these are legacies about the history of education in recent times in Ethiopia.

As the current Minister of Education of Ethiopia, Professor Berhanu Nega would be responsible to be a Statesman to oversee the strengths and weaknesses of these legacies and make educational efforts in Ethiopia even stronger.

In my limited view, Ethiopian students became very strong learners after a relatively short period of exposure to the so called modern education and competed successfully at a global level. Just yesterday, I wondered about the first Ethiopian who was awarded the first Fulbright scholarship and what kind of upbringing he or she had that might have helped in the competition. In particular, I wondered about what might have helped the late Ethiopian laureate who was given an award for some kind of writing while still in high school and went on to win one or another form of the scholarship four times, if I remember his biography correctly.

I think that these kinds of observations would be extremely valuable in charting a stronger educational system in Ethiopia.

I wanted to express ገንቢ ሂስ or constructive criticism for Professor Berhanu Nega on two occasions in recent times. The simple question that came to my mind is if he is focused more on the strengths of these legacies or their weaknesses as well as whether he is focused more on testing or educating.

I think he would be more successful by focusing more on their strengths and educating because I know that he also doesn’t have a magic wand to fix what he once called የትምህርት በሽታ።

Professor or just a Dr?

One earns professorship after years of published research papers. Birhanu is certainly a doctor of philosophy in socioeconimics but he does not have
enough published research papers for discoveries of NEW knowledge.

Unless you mean honorary professorship? Usually, only honorary doctrates are awarded. Not honorary professorship.

From what I can guess, the only reform he carried out is policing Testing so that cheating to pass exams is difficult.

No reforms are made in the supply of quality of education.

In case you forgot, the Borana who call others, instead of themselves, Gabra live in the southern most corner of Ethiopia as well as in Kenya. If I am not mistaken, the same thing is true about the Somali, who also don’t refer to themselves as Gabra.

Sometime after the 1974 revolution in Ethiopia, someone stopped by the home of another man who was sick and in bed. The inconsiderate man said: አነ ኤርገቴ። The sick man responded quickly: ዱረቱ ነምን ነመ ኤርገተ። ጋፈ ነምን ነመ ኤርገቱ ስ ኤርገዼ። ማል ሃ ተኡሬ። The man walked back quickly and quietly.

He was also very bright to ask how much oppression the Borana caused in Wallaga as the “Oromo” complained about oppressions by other Ethiopians. He wasn’t a hypocrite. You owe it to yourself to reflect after so long if he was wrong in pointing out both or if to this day you failed to grasp either point.

Yes, slavery was such a bad legacy in human history. Your terminal confusion about it is equating the sinners to the affected. I think that if people like you and the late Baro Tumsa worked actively for decentralized administrations around Dembi Dollo and Naqamte for the Borana sinners and the affected Agua and Gumuz people in those areas, respectively, both Ethiopia and the local administrations would be better off today.

You have a point here, however, since you don't belong to them and they don't want to know their true history, they try to sideline you.

Now...

At school, I have learned or better put forced to learn Ethiopian history,

hence who was zewditu? According to contemporary tigrayans, Menilek offered his 13 years old daughter zewditu to marry araya sillassie, the only legitimate son of atse yohannes who was then 16 years old. The tigray shumamint or nobles were against the marriage, they said how come our algawerash marries a funga (ugly) girl??? Anyhow, the marriage was politically motivated and it lasted only for one year while araya sillassie died at the age of 18.

Just like you, I have heard media refer to him as Dr., Mayor of Addis and Professor. He was never a Mayor of Addis.
Professor?
There are questions about its legitimacy for him.
For a few years after graduating, he taught in the university that awarded him PHD. He then moved to Addis when EPRDF came to power. He established and run a fertilizer company in Addis and taught at AAU as a volunteer, unpaid. He established The Rainbow Political party which united with EDP and AEUP of Hailu Shawel to form Kinijit. Went to jail for boycotting parliament as protest for the 1997 rigged election. Released a year or so after and came back to America.
He established Ginbot 7 and went to Eritrea to fight gorilla war to bring down EPRDF. Meles sentenced him to death in absentia for terrorism. In 2018, when Abiy Ahmed came to power, pardoned him and came back to his country again.
Where is the scholarship in all the above other than political and military careers? I don't see any.

ነመነ፥ አመለ ህን በርባችፍኔ ቀብደ።

The problem with you is that either you have been miseducated or are not well educated about Ethiopia.

ገብረ የቦረና ቃል ነዉ እኮ።

ቦረን ከን ገብሮምሴ መሌ ገብረ ምት። ቦረን ገብሮሜ ህን ጄዹ።

In case you forgot, the Borana who call others, instead of themselves, Gabra live in the southern most corner of Ethiopia as well as in Kenya. If I am not mistaken, the same thing is true about the Somali, who also don’t refer to themselves as Gabra.

Sometime after the 1974 revolution in Ethiopia, someone stopped by the home of another man who was sick and in bed. The inconsiderate man said: አነ ኤርገቴ። The sick man responded quickly: ዱረቱ ነምን ነመ ኤርገተ። ማል ሃ ተኡሬ። The man walked back quickly and quietly.

A long time ago, a political intellect from Wallaga wrote: እነሱ ዝቅ ኣደረጉን። እኛ በራሳችን እራሳችንን ኣዘቀጥን። I transferred it into Amharic. He was also very bright to ask how much oppression the Borana caused in Wallaga as the “Oromo” complained about oppressions by other Ethiopians. He wasn’t a hypocrite. You owe it to yourself to reflect after so long if he was wrong in pointing out both or if you to this day failed to grasp either point.

What an inarticulate moron! You talk a lot to say little to nothing. Ebbet!
Yet, you have been responsive to it restlessly.
