It is good Addis is "Flowering"!!
But who is funding it?
Why is it being decorated with palm trees like Arab countries? Is it copycatting UAE?
Is splashing Addis a priority?
Cities should splash or glitter in par with the country's economic development because sustainment will be an issue if there is no money in the bank if economy does not grow pushing growth of cities too.
Is all this refurbishment from lent money?
Is it time to do this while there a lot of displaced people whose basic needs are not met?
The incumbent who is facelifting Addis, why not work to peacefully resolve internal conflicts here and there, especially in Tigray, Amhara and Oromo region? Why does not bring about the desired political changes such as abolishing ethnic strife, replacing or updating the constitution?

WHAT was Mr Abiy's change he envisioned when (cheated)/elected to bring into the country? Just a political game-like that? MEDEMER has failed; ethnic politics failed; the constitution failed. The only things ever happened or happening since the incumbent assumed position are everlasting fighting, port controversy, flash painting Addis.
Generally improving the capital city may be an acceptable idea if done with proper planning and without political motivation.
-If it was proper renovation the old city should have been left alone as Alsisi left Cairo alone while building another huge capital city. The covert and overt political agenda and displacement should have been avoided.
It was said Zenawi did hated Addis because it did not support his party. So, he made it a ground for the homeless, a ground for throwing trash and filth. No fence, no walkway or greenery. Now we have the OPDO extreme of changing certain locations into Disneyland kind of glitter.

Although we believe Ethiopia should enter into the overdue renaissance era politically, culturally and economically, this is not how it should be.
What a mess!
