Somaliland has given a 3-week ultimatum to the Ethiopian airline and FlyDubai. The Somaliland aviation authority warned the 2 airlines to make correction regard the name of Hargeisa and Bebera airports. The two airports are situated in Somaliland.

Earlier this week, Ethiopian airline and FlyDubai changed names of airports on its website after Somalia told the two airlines to show Hargeisa airport as part of Somalia. The civil aviation authority of Somalia threatened Ethiopian airlines and Flydubai to suspend their flights.

Somaliland government has reportedly told the two airlines to write “Somaliland” with the names of Hargeisa and Berbera airports of Somaliland.

Somaliland is internationally recognized part of Somalia. But it has been struggling for international recognition. It would be interesting to see if Ethiopian airlines and Flydubai will show Hargeisa airport as part of Somaliland or not.

Why left out this is also for all international airlines. You cannot enter Somaliland if you do not get a visa of Somaliland. If you are Somalian, Eritrea, Djibouti, etc. you have to get visa of Somaliland.
The funny thing is, there are many travelers and tourists to Somaliland, but none or few to Asmara.
