Somaliland rebellion 1978-1991

Post by Dama » 31 Aug 2024, 09:02

Somaliland became independent on June 26,1960. On July 5, 1960, it joined FREELY the Italian Somaliland to form the Somali Republic. 18 years later in 1978, Siad Barre ethnically persecuted the majority Isaaq population of Somaliland during which Barre committed genocide, giving birth to the Somali National Movement that defeated the Somali Republic in 1991 in which year the Somaliland Republic was proclaimed. It formed the Somali Republic freely and it should be free to exit from it when it's neglected for development let alone ethnically genocided.

Somaliland will remain free. No going back. Whether Ethiopia should rent a seaport or not doesnt change the political situation. Many countries will continue to maintain representative offices and trade with it. Finally, it will be a UN recognized state. Ethiopia should wait for that moment.
