why do you see everything in terms of this or that tribe. Amara has Tana lake. why do they need another lake?
yes, Egypt is having temper tantrum in Somalia. Believe me they will also be defeated there . Egypt is way too from Somalia and the people on the ground will shape what is to come.
as we speak the Somaliland parliament is voting on total relation cut off from Somalia. So don't expect Egypt having a smooth ride is Somalia. 5 out of 6 regions of Somalia rejected Egyptian army in Somalia. Well, take it from there!

I am the 1st to agree with you that Ethiopia must not buy any kind of food from outside. And, believe me this is happening as we speak and soon so called Ethiopia food insecurity will be history.
The greening of Ethiopia is causing too much rain and our next problem will be managing Ethiopia winter which is a good problem!!
Remember, Ethiopia is growing by 5 million persons per year. Every 2 years, the size of Somalia is added and we must feed.
Ethiopia will soon export electricity, fresh water, meat animals, vegetables, and soon other grain items.
And, all of these 150 million hand will be producing something for export
Indian firms have acquired roughly 600 000 hectares of land in Ethiopia for pennies.
India is followed closely by Saudi Arabian firms, with 500 000 hectares of land, in Ethiopia.

Horus,
Whether we like it or not, that is how the country is run for the past 50 years!
If the nile was from where I came from and the dam was being built in another region, I would ask why? There is a feeling of ownership. Like growing coffee in Kafa and building coffee factory in Somali region does not make sense!
I am happy you enjoy being of Ethiopian root. I suppprt citizen based governance and will never bow to Ethnic based segregation. Frankly speaking in the past over many decades I never felt first citizen in any way including the services I received, the way I was treated or benefited or via the obligations I discharged. Whichever ethnic in power by a gun point feels superior over others and more Ethiopian than other Ethnics. Simply because it killed and got the power through bloodshade! It behaves as the defacto freedom grantor of other ethnics. I can never accept that and consider myself Ethiopian in that context!!

Almost on the border. What is the idea? The Agame plan was to incorporate the Benishangul-Gumuz region to their Abay Tigray, cutting off Amhara from the Sudan border, and making Gerd their own. So Ethiopia is now stuck with this behemoth. Constructing such a huge dam far away from main population centers makes no sense. Where is all the generated electricity going to go. Don't tell me Khartoum or South Sudan! The dam is in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region of Ethiopia, about 14 km (9 mi) east of the border with Sudan.

Now I know you have problem with Amharic. The fact that GERD is toooo far away from any major city or population center is a blessing if not done by purpose . God forbid if there were any accident to the dam, it would flood all the Ethiopian land mass from Beni-shangul all the way Adama. Now you do the math. I don't think people have any idea how big this thing is.
At the end of the works, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will be the largest dam in Africa: 1,800 m long, 145 m high and with a total volume of 74 billion mΒ³.
You're right. Where's Horus to answer the question, rather than flooding the forum with horsesh'it?

No one is questioning its size, as size doesn't always matter. Could you please answer the above question and stop bullsh'itting?Constructing such a huge dam far away from main population centers makes no sense. Where is all the generated electricity going to go? Don't tell me Khartoum or South Sudan!
